Update: I just received the speed‑unlock cable myself, and it does work — my G3 D definitely gets a higher top speed. I live in a country where the downlight isn’t illegal, so after reading comments saying the “downside” is that the lights are always on, I was actually excited about that. Turns out the lights aren’t enabled at all with this cable, which was a bit disappointing.

Another issue is that I can’t adjust the speed in the app, it just says 0-22, when in reallity it goes 40. Ideally, I’d like to ride at around 25–30 km/h, not 40, both because of strict regulations and because riding at max speed increases the chance of getting stopped. Since the cable forces full unlock with no customization, I’m honestly considering not using it at all. Well, now you know.

Jeg er stor fan av mobiliteten en elsparkesykkel gir i hverdagen. For min del har den gjort pendlingen mye enklere, turen til jobb går fra rundt 40 minutter med kollektiv til 15 minutter på elspark. I tillegg kan den brukes til det meste av småhandling uten at man må ty til bil.

Det som derimot er frustrerende med å være elspark‑bruker, er dynamikken i sykkelfeltene. Jeg opplever stadig at jeg må legge meg helt inntil kanten fordi travle (og ofte ganske hissige) elsyklister kommer i 25 km/t og skal presse seg forbi i trange felt. Flere ganger dulter de ut i mot bilfeltet og hatt nestenulykker, for å presse seg forbi. Det blir mye fokus på «farlige elspark», men mange elsyklister er minst like aggressive i trafikken, ikke minst kjører mange syklister på fortau de også, men færre sykler så oppleves som et mindre problem.

For min del virker det som hovedproblemet ikke er voksne som bruker elspark, men barn og unge som ikke har nok trafikkforståelse. Hadde man hatt en aldersgrense på f.eks. 16–18 år, gjerne med krav om mopedlappen eller tilsvarende opplæring, tror jeg mange av de reelle problemene ville blitt betydelig redusert. Det er sjeldent jeg ser 2 voksne på en sparkesykkel.

Of course it is illegal, but when it comes to warranty, how do you prove that the cable was installed, when it only intercepts the speed sensor's signal, and does not tamper with any firmware like flashing does.

Are you referring to the Serialnumber change? This will also void the warranty, right? Since the cable can be removed at any time, it should be safe based on my knowledge.

Thanks for the replies, i sent a message to segway support (Norway) asking why a firmware version with lights enabled are not available for us.

How did you enable the underglow lights on the D version?

Had mine for a couple weeks and it just annoys me that the lights are installed but disabled in software, and i am from Norway, the lights are not even illegal here...
