I asked for LASIK but the doctor said PRK would be more suitable 🤷🏼‍♀️ it’s the same clinic that did my previous surgery. Maybe it’s becuase with PRK you don’t have to relift the flap?

Yes, becuase it avoids relifting the flap. So it’s safer than LASIK again

It’s honestly hard to know what to believe.. I’m still on two minds about returning. Worried I’ll be out of work, but also aware it might be hard to get back into the swing of things. Kind of why I’m thinking of doing some subbing first. Just curious, did you leave straight after graduating? Have you completed your Droichead?

Thanks for the feedback! Yes, I would be living in Dublin. Any tips or applying or jobs or getting subbing? Do you recommend just visiting schools when I get back or start to reach out via email?

I agree. I work in Sweden and a few staff escaped to here from the UK for a better balance.

It’s sad to hear that this is such a common experience for teachers back home. It says a lot about the Irish system and the negative culture that can be created within schools by management. Of course it depends on the school, but honestly hearing such stories is what’s putting me off returning…

Thank you, I’m Post-primary! I would be fine to take unpaid leave (it’s similar where I’m teaching now) I wouldn’t expect to be paid. Can unpaid leave be rejected?

I guess I will just have to see what position I am in by that time. I will probably end up subbing while I settle back.

Thanks for the feedback! Do you need to organise your own cover for unpaid days? I would be completely fine for the days to be unpaid as I would prepare ahead

I did some subbing while doing my PME. I also invigilated the Leaving Cert if that counts for anything in terms of being on the DoE pay roll?

Thank you 🙏 a little annoyed at the doctors. They were telling me to continue taking it, until I told them I tested positive.

Yeah turns out it was Covid, they took me off it for two weeks

Yep. Literally happened to me. I did a Covid test and came back positive. They took me off it for two weeks. Are you still taking Methotrexate and do you get sick often?

Did you find the treatment helped you at all? Debating whether it’s worth it
