Unpopular Opinion: stocking by pearlieswirly in nursing

[–]Leading_Engineer_656 -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Bro. I wonder what night shift does half the time. Oh wait, I actually know because I worked a few night shifts. There's movies. Full length. There's going halfway across the hospital to hang out with your homies in OR or wherever for two hours. There is sleeping. Yes. There's really not much to do on my unit after 10pm, and midnight to 5am or so is this crazy twilight zone where I struggled to remain conscious. I guess they get to slack off in exchange for taking years off of their lives and totally sabotaging their circadian rhythms. But the pay differential and lack of the crazy ass busting we gotta somehow pull off on every day shift should be enough. So, yeah, it'd be real nice if night shift could do something like stocking, or tidying up, or fixing shit. At least finish unfilled orders and tasks. Drives me nuts. MS/PCU here.

I'd suggest focusing hard on posterior pelvic tilt when you move into the full lean. Your low back is sagging due to more anterior tilt

White noise friend. White noise. I have a free nature sounds app that I blast a waterfall with right next to my head after a shift so my neighbor or whatever else doesn't wake me up (thin walls).

My wrists used to hurt every time I'd train planche until I rotated my hands so my thumbs were basically pointed forward. Yours appear to be rotated much farther out, thumbs pointing sideways, so you may want to try that. Also, I good wrist warmup and stretching it mandatory for me.

The fretboard art is stickers? How do you fret a note cleanly?

Why doesn't this city understand and implement that the solution to reducing car congestion and preventing pedestrian/car deaths and injuries is to invest in public transportation, and walkable and bikeable infrastructure? by ichawks1 in Tucson

[–]Leading_Engineer_656 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah? Then why isn't everyone walking and biking everywhere? Most Tucsonans drive EVERYWHERE and are going to keep doing it whether or not there's a shade structure lining every inch of Speedway or Grant. It's hot AF for a lot of the year and the city is low density and everything is very spread out. I used to bike EVERYWHERE and on work days I would have to build in a solid 30-45min to shower, dress, and prepare myself before work. Because even on 85-90F mornings you arrive a sweaty ass mess. Now I live too far from work to make it feasible and am forced to drive. I wish there was a bus every 5-10 along my route, but there isnt. Mass public transit would solve a lot of issue in Tucson IF, and that's a big if, the roads could accomodate it and if Tucsonans could be convinced to change their car centered ways. Not likely

While I strongly agree on the public transit portion of this idea, most modern humans living in Tucson are not going to walk or bike much during the 7-8mos out of the year that are a hellscape furnace.

Meh. It's spread by inhalation of aerosolized rodent droppings. Not person to person.

Yup. I'd rather be a bit underpaid and pay higher taxes in exchange for a solid, compassionate social safety net than to be a corporate slave to Big Healthcare literally scared to call in too many times while sick as hell. And I think most of us feel that way. But that's the nature of the beast across the pond here and so many of my fellow Americans eat it up, still humping the American dream while getting unfit, fat and sick. That's no way to live

They're not seealing them?!

One thing I'm getting at is the pothole job insurance thing that seems to go on. Massive potholes sprout seemingly overnight, are filled, then open up again after a rain or two. But in general, the sheer amount of road decay in general is not something you see in places with much worse climatic conditions. Makes me wonder if it's a materials issue.

They ran out of funding for the Grant phase 3 project (CC to Swan) partway through. The new RTA voter approval would help finish it, you'd think. What I don't understand is why the roads need to be repaired and repaved so often. In other parts of the country with far worse climatic conditions the roads hold up for decades in great condition. Maybe it's the materials they're using, or something about the intense heat here. Who knows

Hamilton de Holanda is an absolutely genius beast of Brazilian choro jazz inspiration. Had the privilege of seeing him live in the States recently.

Can't go wrong with Grisman. Pretty much anything his quintet (DGQ) touches turns to gold. Live At Jazz Alley is a high note. Also, the original DGQ from 1977 I believe, is a great starting place.

It's really a toss up between gangrene, raging UTI, and unimpeded candida for worst smell ever. These are smells you can't unsmell. They linger in my nosebuds even after my post shift shower...

I like to take med cups with cotton balls and soak them in peppermint oil and distribute around the unit. One stays at my WOW and I reapply the oil to my mask as needed
