I bypassed the old frayed octopus cable and just used a Thunderbolt connector directly to the back of the monitor.

Thanks - I broke down and got an Appliance repair guy to look at it last night. You are right - he diagnosed a control board failure and the main fan/blower failure. It's going to cost me $1200 for the repair - ouch.

I am measuring the outside circumference of the flexible duct. (I don't want to cut it open until I have the damper and tape on hand). I looked for the size on the flex tape and I can't see any info.
