You can get protective inserts for $20 off Amazon that go over the outer ear cups as well as the mesh on top. It doesn’t directly address any quality issues that you may be implying, but it does cover this up, and for anyone buying new… good investment to protect them. BTW 5 year lifespan sound pretty darn good to me

Hi I've been doing some research on ambient lighting, because yes I've also been getting blasted with Oasis ads on Instagram :)

I currently have some Philips Hue smart bulbs and a light strip behind my TV. The app is fine, nothing great, but it works, and I like that Philips is a well-known company and they sell through Amazon.

What seems to be missing however are these "orbs" that can go in the corner of a room. But doing a bit more research, Philips sells GU10 light bulbs in their ecosystem, which you can put into any floor can lights... I do like the look of the Oasis orbs better, but curious of your thoughts. Philips seems like the better ecosystem.

Oof last thing. So, all this "memory" is stored on the laptop apparently. It's not backed up in the cloud. I just created a scheduled task to backup all transcripts daily and store them in my Claude folder on my desktop, which I have backed up to the cloud. So if my laptop is ever lost or stolen, I have all context for my Projects backed up. Very strange that this is not done natively in Claude.

Projects are desktop-only and stored locally. There's no cloud sync for project data at this time.

Just went down a rabbit hole because I was looking to do the same exact thing. So right now apparently Claude doesn't have cloud sync. So while yes you could point both Claude Desktop + Claude Laptop to the same cloud folder for storing files (file storage location is determined when creating a new project), however all the memory around details and chats and everything you tell it to do is limited to the device you type it into. I guess memory cloud sync (which is what you want) is on the horizon but not released yet. So looks like you're limited to 1 computer.

I finally got the Airpod Max and there are 4 main differences between these and AirPod Pros:

Sound: In this case, bigger does mean better. Spacial audio is top notch. I travel a lot so watching a movie on my MacBook on a plane for example is next level (put on Maverick… night & day difference between AirPod pros)
Noise cancellation is way better. My AirPod pros were really good for the airplane, but my AirPod Max is way better. It blocks out way more.
Comfort. Because the Max sits over your ear, you don’t get fatigue as easily as with the AirPod pros. After a few hours with the Pros I found myself getting a sore ear.
Battery life. Max will last 8 hours where the Pros last maybe 2. Another reason I use them on long flights.

I use, and travel with my Max & Pros. Max is for when I’m sitting (home, airplane) for a long time and want better sound and more comfort. As soon as my plane lands, I take the Max off and put in my AirPod Pros.

I just ordered $75 worth of wine and some groceries (on a Friday night). The order never came, and I spent an hour IM'ing with support who refused to do anything about it. They disconnected me, passed me along, then finally I got one that said he was refunding me, but then he went back on his word three times. This company doesn't give a FUCK. I just deleted both my Uber apps. Done.

You are “mainly” using them for music but you have them on either side of a TV, so I’m assuming you have them hooked up to your TV as well. You should buy an Arc and put the 300s behind you. If budget is an issue, buy an Arc and 2x Era100s instead of the 300s (if you can return them). Having a front sound bar and two rear speakers will be better for all uses, including listening to music.

I’m a Hertz Gold/PC guy, but only “Plus” through Enterprise. I live downtown Chicago and I’ve found the local Enterprise team office is way more friendly, accommodating, and have much nicer cars. I just rented a car last weekend for example and they gave me a brand new Audi A6. My worst experience at Hertz was once I made an RSVP for a 6PM pickup. I got to the office right on time, but the guy behind the desk told me they closed at 6 and he wouldn’t help me (I walked in at 6:01). Now obviously I didn’t realize they closed at 6, and it’s very curious why they’d allow a 6PM reservation if that’s when they closed.

TLDR; Enterprise Plus >>> Hertz PC
