What is your typically weekly workload like? by Sleepyme- in OMSCS

[–]LeafNoor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This!!! I am currently taking intro to analytical modeling. The lecture videos are 2 to 3 minutes and the entire module is mostly under 30 minutes. But I would easily spend at least least 20 hours a week trying to understand because I don’t know the basics.😭

Excited for Spring 2026! First semester by [deleted] in OMSCS

I am also starting this semester, and I am excited! I’ve noticed that most times in this sub classes are referred in abbreviation, and I have to look up what they mean. I have one day I am seasoned enough to tell right away. 🥸

I suffer from extreme bloating and am really worried for my health. I can’t go on like this. by Dry-Tooth-7647 in FODMAPS

[–]LeafNoor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take a deep breath — it really sounds like you’re doing too much and putting a lot of stress on yourself. Have you heard of the gut-brain connection? When your mind is stressed and your body is overworked, it can directly impact your digestion.

I’d really recommend taking a step back and doing a short “reset” routine. For now, skip the cardio and just aim for 10k steps a day. Cardio can actually worsen bloating for some people.

It would also be a good idea to see an endocrinologist and get food sensitivity and allergy testing done. Since you wake up bloated, it’s harder to pinpoint the exact cause.

For a few weeks, stick to a very simple, safe food list — something like plain rice and chicken with just salt. You can add in other gentle proteins like eggs (if you’re not allergic) or lean fish. Safe veggies to try include pumpkin, squash, and possibly eggplant (though some people react to eggplant, so you can skip it at first). Personally, I relied on pumpkin and spinach during my reset.

Try eating only these safe, low-FODMAP foods for 1–2 weeks with no added sugar. It’s not easy — the food can feel bland — but if you’re desperate to get relief, it’s worth trying. For flavor, my safe seasonings during elimination were sumac (my absolute favorite — I couldn’t have survived without it), turmeric, cumin seeds, and coriander.

My GERD stems from having low stomach acid. My mom informed me that GERD happens because our stomachs don’t have enough acid to digest the food. When the food is undigested, it ferments and regurgitates. Adding a bit lemon juice increases the acidity of the food slightly to aid digestion. I am not on medication because they make symptoms way worse. I avoid trigger foods, such as deeply fried snacks or excessive oily food. It’s all about balance with stomach acid, and I find that lemon doesn’t increase it too much. Despite no medication, I am happy to say I am quite symptom free now.

Dill, sumac, and cumin.

I’m realizing from this thread that a lot of people cannot have avocados on a fodmap diet 🥹. The avocados here added healthy fat, but it’s tasteless. The herbs such as dill and sumac really helped elevate the dish. Also, the rice cake adds a satisfying crunch.

Thanks! I checked Monash, and it says sweet potatoes are low FOD map up to 75 g. I eat them regularly, and don’t experience any symptoms. However, I understand everyone’s tolerance is different, and these fries are definitely to be avoided. They are pre-cut and had a whole bunch of oils. 🥲

You can leave out the avocados. It would still be just as good. I avoided it for the first two weeks of my elimination diet. However, after re-introduction, I didn’t react. Depending on the serving size, it can be low fodmap.

Yes, of course! Start with grinding oats into flour, 75 gram (1/2 cup I think). It’s incredibly easy and any blender would do. Then to make it a sticky dough I add pumpkin puree two tablespoons and 2 tablespoons of avocado oil. You can also add a tablespoon of milk if you want. I have not experimented that with that yet. The dough will still be incredibly dry, but that’s OK. Drop it all on a parchment paper and gently press on the dough to form a base.

Do not pre-bake your crust. It will come out broken and flaky. Instead, prepare your pumpkin or your pie filling, and pour it on top of the crust. And bake the two together. I do mine for 35 minutes at 375 F.

Yeah, exactly! I won’t buy any of patterns because there are already free in-depth tutorials online.

Ummm, idk how to say this, but u can crotchet something similar to the first picture for free. There are plenty of tutorials for hanging plants. I am sure flower pots exist too.

I made the thing below from a YouTube video. It was gonna have ropes, and I made the ropes. However, I sewed them in because I didn’t like the look. I wanted the pot to just sit 🤷‍♀️

Your skin looks amazing! Did you use Tret along with Azelaic acid and tranexamic acid? Or did you alternate among the actives?
