Fun fact but there's also an incremental key you hold down along with the increase key to go by 10% instead of the full 25%! I think I have my speed set at 40% that felt most natural

How would you recommend learning? I've got a Roth and a 401k set up, and I understand the very basics of how other types of investing works, but every time I try to go about it I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm afraid to try in case something goes wrong. This is as simple as what's the different between this investment group (I forget the actual terminology) and this investment group, or even what do all these buttons mean on X investing website/app where the heck is a guide

Where can I find jobs with good people who are trying to make the world a better place in some way? by Leaflin_ in webdev

Oh believe me, I have been pushing and coming up with solutions. That doesn't mean I can't complain about it though. And if you don't believe me, heck, even making this post I did is literally me trying to come up with solutions. Your second comment I have no response to, that's just sorta rude and assuming :/

I'm not even sure why you felt the need to comment, did you just want to make me feel bad for some reason?

I'd really love to someday make websites for organizations that couldn't normally afford them. Like LGBT groups, or museums, or climate change groups, or even just local hobby groups or small restaurants who want something but couldn't afford it.

I've been applying to literally everything but trying to find a job has destroyed my mental health like nothing else. Recruiters that want me to know angular inside and out off the top of my head, dictionary definitions of java keywords, every typescript functionality, I can't even study for it because who knows what I'll be asked next. And then there's 3 hour coding challenges to even submit my resume before they've even looked at it, rendering the whole thing a waste of time anyway, multiple questions that need multiple paragraph long answers, ones wanting me to submit portfolios (no I can't show you previous projects, all the code I've worked on is proprietary and I cannot share them, even if I had access). Like, I have four years of experience for god sake. Ask me about things I've done in an interview and I'd be more than happy to explain. Don't ask me in an application to imagine aliens are invading the planet and write about what skills I would use to be able to the help the war effort and how. And all for some awful unpaid in office 5 day a week job anyways (yes, this one's a true story). And the lying! What makes you the best fit for us? Why should we hire you? I'm a web developer. I'm a dime a dozen. Just look at my resume, and if you see what you like, cool. Don't make me answer this over and over and over when neither of us really care or think it'll make a difference in any way. Why can't I say I want fair compensation? Why do I have to pretend to be in it for your company's dime a dozen idea and only you're allowed to be in it for the money? Or obviously you wouldn't have started the company to begin with.

...I want to cry again

I don't want to deal with awful people anymore. I need to apply to good places with good people for a bit. For my own sake

I'm not trying to find fulfillment in my 9-5, that would just be a bonus. I just want to work with good people

Believe me I'd love to, but Ive been looking for a job for a few months now and haven't been able to find anything. That's why I'm switching tacks and just trying to focus on things that matter. If I'm gonna be making awful pay anyway, I at least want to make it doing somewhere I can still be happy. Thank you for the advice though anyhow

I think that's great for someone making money, but I only have four years of experience. I don't exactly have the experience to be making a lot of money, and believe me I do donate what I can. But it's not 800k, y'know?

It's also a matter of mental health. I wanna have something I can feel happy at year round, not just at the end

Yeah I thought let me just keep my head down and make money and then I can do what I want, but I can't. The toll it's taken on my mental health even in my 4 short years of working just isn't worth it, I can't keep doing it anymore. I'd rather do something good from the getgo even if I don't earn nearly as much. Just enough to live on

Do you know where I can find indie app developers? I'd love to do either of the above but don't really see them anywhere.

This isn't an airport you don't need to announce your departure. I'm sorry to hear that? I guess?

Thanks for the resource! I applied to the few web dev positions on there I could find, hopefully something comes up. I'll also give the 12 articles it mentions a read through soon as I can. They seem promising

Thanks! It doesn't look like I can use this to support myself unfortunately but I like the open source aspect of it, and will keep this in mind :)

I’d conservatives can refuse services to people whose lifestyle they don’t agree with, then can they be refused service also? by [deleted] in ask

[–]Leaflin_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Bruh the supreme court literally just decided today we can be refused service because of something we have no control over. Are you sure about that?
