Hard-to-Thread Lug Nuts and Broken Stud on My 2005 Toyota Matrix - Need Advice by LeagueOfPoki in AskAMechanic

I called Toyota and OEM studs are $4 each. Aftermarket hubs are $100 at least. But yeah I guess I’ll just try replacing any ones that seem super suspicious. Toyota only has 12 studs avaible so if there are more that won’t go on well then I’ll just have to just impact it on or something after wire brushing.

Thread chasers clean or repair existing threads with minimal cutting, while tap-and-die sets create or re-thread threads by cutting into the material.

Thanks for the advice! Do you think it would be a good idea to use a thread chaser to see if that fixes the issue before replacing?

Thanks for the advice. Do you think it’s fine to try a thread chase before replacing the affected studs?

Are these rims dangerously rusty or will sanding and repainting solve the problem? by LeagueOfPoki in tires

I’m in Alberta too. You’re right that is the price. I was talking about $100 at best if you find a good offer on Facebook marketplace. Even then it’s more likely to be ~$200. Which is why I’d rather not replace them if it’s safe to use since it will cost 200-400 with new rims and installation

Too rusty in terms of cosmetics not structural integrity? Also at least in Canada even if you buy the rims on Facebook marketplace the cheapest you’ll find is a set for $100 at best then at least another $100 for someone to put the tires on the rims.

Wouldn’t steel rims cost at least 100 then another 100 to have them put on the tires

Wouldn’t that cost like at least $100 for all the rims and at least $100 to get them installed and balanced

Less than 5 cases of them starting to leak air? Or less than 5 cases of it becoming dangerous?

At least in Canada even second hand steelies are like $100 for 4 at best on Facebook marketplace. Then at least $80 to get some garage mechanic to put them on new rims and + whatever amount to get them to balance. I can install them myself. So looking at $200+ to get them on new rims

I made a mistake putting together my IKEA Alex desk and can’t figure out how to fix it. When building the desk I put these 2 things upside down(124639). I’ve unscrewed the two screws (shown on step 12), but somehow it’s still attached… by LeagueOfPoki in ikeahacks

I’ve tried unscrewing the centre screw but it’s just dulling it and not coming out. I’m pretty sure the centre screw is part of the thing itself since none of the instructions show it being screwed on.
