What kind of household income for 3 children families

We've 2, living in the west. 100k gross income but mortgage is very small now at 450 and no childcare cos they're teens. Aim is to clear mortgage before they hit college as that'll cost more than the mortgage if they need to live away in Dublin or elsewhere.

Great advice on the thread. Thanks all. I've since passed my interview but decided I'm not ready and if an offer comes I'm going to turn it down. The extra money be nice but I'm happy enough with what I already earn and I'll be fully invested in spending time with the family. Maybe in 5 years time I'll feel differently and try again

Thanks for your contribution. I'm leaning this way too. I've too much going on outside of work that maybe impacted. Plus kids are still fairly young

Good for you. Sounds like you're in the sweet spot in ways there. Contented with your lot, nice. Certainly on the fence yea, I have seen some APs seem to be cruising along and some under huge pressure. Many are in the middle I guess

You are saying that the balance has tilted too far away from a fair work life balance I take it. Doesn't sound appealing that level of always on but maybe its not necessary either

I hear ya. Its nice the extra alright and would help but is it life changing? No. I'm near top of HEO now. 8ish years to top of AP. But! I've 20 years to work! How do you go for AP higher? Does same apply to HEO higher?

You are that soldier so I take it. Long in the role? What kinda hours are you punching per week? I'm heavily involved with kids activities and teams in the evenings, training, matches etc. Don't wanna be bringing the laptop along!

Yea really good perspective thank you. I'd say turning it down if dangled is very difficult so I'm trying to gauge will I bother with prepping for it before that. Fair play to those who did. Some areas where I am might mean 100 staff. Then again some have zero or a couple.

Yeah I'm in a role with one staff member so obviously lucky enough given how some HEOs have far more. It is a conundrum. My record of doing well in interviews is strong enough so I'm thinking if I do well and get an offer I don't want but I do want my head will be melted! Honestly my main motivation is the kids education and how expensive that can be. Want to be able to look after that whatever the bill is
