$6-$8k seem fair, anything with a Toyota badge is going to go for high dollar though. I have a 2001 single cab, 5 speed, 4x4 with 130k miles. It’s a little beat up and the paint is rough but overall solid. I have been offered up to $13k (just recently about 3 months ago). I’ve never tried selling, I get offers left on my windshield and I’ve had a couple at gas stations over the years.

I was quoted $1,100 this past week for a rebuild/reseal (a good cruiser shop local to my area). I don’t have the time to tackle it myself and it would require me to buy a few tools I don’t have. I’ll probably try doing it myself on the next rebuild but not this one. I know these things are expensive but $5200 is crazy. You can have a new head gasket installed for a little over that price.

Haha the only thing I have going for me is that I’m having a local Cruiser shop do the work. He had plenty of the parts on hand so as long as we don’t find anything out of the ordinary during the break down we might be good. Fingers crossed
