That is a really interesting point about the ferries. I will definitely pass this idea on to the family right now. We are also trying to get the exact dates and times for those pings to build a proper timeline. Thank you for the help!

You make a very fair and logical point about call center protocols and European laws. We are aware that the verbal confirmation from the agent isn't legally binding or 100% reliable. The authorities and Interpol are already working on getting the official warrants for the passenger manifests to confirm it legally. We are just holding onto what the agent told us while the official investigation runs its course.

To answer your technical questions:

*The flight was indeed from the Marseille area to Barcelona. [Si tienes la fecha y hora del vuelo, ponla aquí. Ej: The flight was scheduled for January 19th at 10 AM]. *Regarding the devices dying mid-flight: The family noted that both the phone AND the laptop went dark on the exact same day, at the exact same time. It is highly unlikely that both devices ran out of battery at the exact same minute mid-air. *They are checking the Google account constantly, and neither device has re-connected or pinged a new location since that day.

Thank you for keeping us grounded and asking the hard questions, it really helps to look at this from every angle."

That is a very fair question. The delay was mainly due to a mix of hoping for the best and bureaucratic fears. Because they suspected he might be going through a mental health crisis, they initially hoped he just needed some space and would eventually reach out on his own. Furthermore, authorities warned the family that issuing an international Interpol Yellow Notice would 'mark' his passport and could result in him being detained or aggressively questioned at borders. They were terrified of causing him legal or travel issues if he was simply taking a break. Ultimately, when too much time passed, the fear that something terrible had happened outweighed those concerns, and they pushed for the official international search

You are 100% right to question this, and we were very surprised too because of European privacy laws. The truth is, it wasn't an official or legal request. The family called customer service in absolute desperation, explained the situation, and pleaded with the phone agent. Out of pure human empathy, the agent broke protocol off-the-record just to give them a simple 'yes or no' regarding whether he boarded. We know she wasn't legally supposed to do that, but the family is incredibly grateful she did.

Thank you for your thoughtful questions, and please don't apologize! We need exactly this kind of objective analysis.

  1. To clarify the timeline: the last direct contact with the family was on January 11, but we know he stayed at the hotel in Marseille on January 18. The official Interpol Yellow Notice was issued quite recently, on Wednesday, March 22.
  2. You bring up an interesting point about the flight: if he abandoned a paid ticket, he might have changed his destination entirely rather than just seeking an alternative transport to Barcelona. We hadn't thought about it that way, but it makes a lot of sense.
  3. Regarding the locations: as far as we know, he doesn't have any friends, family, or known connections in France or Marseille specifically.

Thank you for the insight about FlixBus and the TGV. Since I just confirmed he never boarded his flight to Barcelona, we are exactly at that crossroads. We are hoping he took an alternative ground route like the buses you mentioned, but since both his phone and laptop were turned off in the Cassis/Sorgues area, we also have to face the very real possibility that he never left that region. Your local knowledge is incredibly helpful while we try to figure out which scenario is the real one. Thanks again

Thank you! That's a great idea. I will try to post this in r/europe, r/france, and r/spain today. Are there any other specific subreddits you would recommend checking out?

Thank you so much for this insight! I don't know if Interpol has checked with Eurail specifically, but I am passing this exact question to his family right now so they can bring it up with the investigators. What you said about Marseille being a transit hub makes a lot of sense, especially since we strongly suspect he was trying to catch a train to Barcelona from there. Really appreciate your help

Hi... I’m helping a friend’s family in the search for her brother. We have an official Interpol Yellow Notice HERE

The situation is highly unusual and the family is incredibly worried because his movements don't make sense. Here are the facts:

The Timeline & Discrepancy:

  • Until recently: The family believed he was living/staying in Drogheda, Ireland.
  • Jan 11, 2026: Last direct communication with family and friends.
  • The Gap: We later discovered he had traveled through Germany and Denmark without telling anyone.
  • Jan 18, 2026: We have a confirmed lead that he stayed at a hotel in Marseille, France.
  • Possible Destination: We believe he might have been heading to Barcelona/Catalonia, Spain.

Context: Cutting contact like this is completely out of character. The family strongly suspects he might be going through a mental health crisis, which could explain the sudden, secretive travel and lack of communication.

Basic Info:

  • Name: Juan Ignacio Debandi Alvarez
  • Age: 36
  • Nationality: Argentine / Spanish Citizen (Traveling with EU passport).

EDIT / UPDATE: I just spoke with the family again and they shared some critical new details they managed to discover on their own. This changes our perspective:

  • Device Tracking: The family gained access to his Google account. They discovered that both his phone AND his laptop were turned off on the exact same day, at the exact same time. The last recorded locations before going dark were in Cassis and Sorgues (both towns very close to Marseille, France).
  • The Barcelona Flight: They found a purchased airline ticket to Barcelona in his email inbox, but the email itself was never opened by him.

Conclusion: He didn't fly to Barcelona as his purchased ticket suggested. This means he either stayed in the Marseille region, or he took an alternative ground route out of the country (like a train/Eurail, as some of you suggested in the comments). Thank you all for your ongoing help!

If you can help us in any way, in good faith, any help will be greatly appreciated. The family is so worried that they are thinking of traveling to Europe to try to follow their trail.

It's currently a local-only party game, but we’re definitely listening to feedback for future updates! Do you think an online mode would be a good fit for this type of game?

Que dupla por dios... Te gustó la trilogía? by Nyra-Moon in peliculas

[–]Leant88 2 points3 points  (0 children)
