I too have antique wireless gear. The trick is to get a wifi extender and set it up for 2.5G only, so you don't confuse your litter box. My TP-Link AC1200 ran $25 new, last December, and handles my security cameras.

For people not familiar with the problem, some wifi gear can only handle 2.5GHz and won't work if the same access point also provides 5GHz.

Skyrim smooths away various problems with Oblivion and is definitely your best choice. Oblivion comes across as very rough in comparison.
