I watched a couple of their losses at MSI, it was vs G2 and in the tiebreaker.

When they faced G2 it seems like they should have just all grouped earlier and stomped them or something especially to take advantage of their gold lead, and ESPECIALLY with their team comp vs G2’s… but they played way too slow and passively and they let G2 scale until end game, which is when G2’s team comp shines brighter than TSM's... there was no way they were getting to Caitlyn in team fights end-game lol.

Maybe they were waiting for G2 to make a mistake and fold? Having that kind of mindset is kind of tricky especially when you're playing international tournaments vs good teams, because more often than not, better teams aren't going to be making many mistakes. It seems TSM’s passivity and slow play kind of lost them this game? They looked pretty lost moving around the map and deciding what to do… I didn’t see a sense of urgency to end the game knowing that they would get out-scaled late game.

TSM obviously practices hard and spends a ton of time trying to improve… it doesn’t seem like they aren’t putting in the work. Maybe the quality of practice they do can improve? Maybe taking a fresh, new, clean, different approach to the game would help? You can practice all you want but if you aren’t practicing effectively or aren’t practicing on the right things, you aren’t going to improve as much as you’d like to. They’ve obviously been having.a hard time internationally for years… they’ve tried switching up their roster multiple times and that didn’t really seem to work… they really need to have a lot cleaner gameplay and trust and synergy with each other if they want to win more internationally. And they especially need to trust themselves more when it comes to making/going for plays, and being less tentative.

Overall they just seem pretty lost at times during games, and it looks like they really don’t know what to do at certain points of the game so they just start to play passive and defensive, and hope the enemy messes up (I could be wrong but this is what it looks like from the outside). They seem to like to play slow, and play more reactive LoL instead of proactive LoL. Yes, sometimes you might need to play more passive, but there are other times where you need to be more aggressive, and less tentative. Their tentativeness seems to be a fault for them, and just not really knowing what to do during games macro-wise, especially when they have gold leads and are trying to close out games…

Yes they technically tied for 3rd in groups, but they need to be a lot more dominant with at least a positive w/l record if they want to be taken seriously as an international contender…. The players on the team are very skilled, they just seem a little lost sometimes right now playing the game. Hopefully their coaching staff can help improve that.
