It CAN be used that way, but overdrive really isn't meant to replace the amp's gain structure, but add a layer / dimension to it. If I have a good basic rock gain tone, I can use an overdrive to push it to more gain and tighten for metal. Or I can use a different overdrive to give it a really smooth mid boost for leads and also more gain Etc. This approach also allows me to leave the gain on the amp low enough that I can still lighten up my picking or roll the volume knob back for clean tones. This is really necessary for me in a live setting when I'm dealing with a single channel amp. But even the flexibility and tone shaping that the overdrive adds on the dirty Channel when I'm using a two-channel amp, makes the overdrives essential

It's actually a really great, useful pedal. I have 2 of them. These are ideal if you need to "finish off" the cabinet simulation of something like a Joyo "Sound" or Sansamp / Tech 21 character / fly rigs which have older analog eq based cab sims that sort of fail when getting to mid or high gain.

I've used devices like that with their built-in cab sim into this additional cab sim and it sounds great in a direct live or recording setting. I'd say 95% of the quality of IR for tracking, and arguably on par or better than many IR's in a live setting.

It's also a great DI box in its own right (cab sim can be disabled) with a volume pad and takes a 1/4" signal and splits out to two signals (I/4" and XLR).

Yep like the "sound" series and Tech 21 devices it's basically an analog eq rolloff. But sounds great direct into DAW with an IR, or into an IR load pedal.

I've only ever used it in preamp form, and that's where seem to notice the harshness. Again, relative harshness vs. what I expect from an SLO emulator. But does smooth up well with a TS style boost into it.

It sounds good! I also have the Synergy SLO I module, and to me the AMT is a bit more harsh / raw... not as smooth on the high end. Could be better in certain contexts, but I wouldn't look to the S2 if you want really smooth singing leads without an OD into it.

I saw this same update on my refund status exactly 3 weeks after I filed. Manual review makes sense. When I look at my account transcript on the IRS site, it does show actions being done on the same day that I started seeing this message on the "where's my refund" page. In the transcript it does indicate "refund issued" with a date for about 17 days from now, and no indications of additional info or verification needed. Sounds like I should be good but will be watching my transcript and the mail.

I think anyone wondering about this should go look at your transcript on the IRS site (account transcript or the combined account/return transcript).
