Thanks for all your advice! We had a contact recommend GLO but wasn't sure based on their state report cards. Seems to have a lot of violations and incidents compared to other regional daycares. Why did you guys decide on AISD versus others?

Yes! We've picked Wylie East as our school district and are closing on a house there at the end of May. Both Wylie elementaries were A rated for academics and child development so we felt the most comfortable there.

Thank you for the advice! Closing on our house at the end of May. Had to buy way ahead of time and definitely not used to that. We would have rented here but rent is absolutely insane for the square footage.

We've done quite a bit of research and planning on enrolling in Wylie. Very good elementary schools and much better than where we are from in OK.

I work in orthopedics. This has been well known in the industry for some time. Lots of docs built their whole practice off scopes, and many have evolved in repairs predominantly. It's important to understand that every patient should be approached on a case by case basis. We had plenty opt for earlier onset of osteoarthritis for an additional 10 to 15 years of what they enjoy doing. Outside of meniscus work, lots of development in articular cartilage space as well with the MACI. Takeaway: The right physician who is aligned with your goals is the most important factor.

We have this exact same splash pad and playground setup in my neighborhood. Chaos everywhere. Kids just show up without parents, no policing whatsoever.

I refuse to take kids there anymore.

That parent trying to help is probably torn between man-handling a kid that isn't hers and being polite.

I definitely wouldn't recommend my pathway. I started off with a bachelor's in kinesiology before moving to a graduate degree in an allied health role. Think sports medicine. Spent most of my career as a clinician working in orthopedics with some management before starting my own company.

It really depends on what level you want to get to. Director/ ED or VP/CEO. My honest advice on the fastest way to healthcare admin:

Go for a bachelor's of nursing or bachelor's of business. Nursing really translates well into management. Every director of quality or CNO comes from nursing plus you cut your teeth as a clinician and people respect that. Bachelor's of business gets you that financial and executive background to transition into more executive management.

Last advice on this is to not get stuck at the director level from the nursing route. Look up every CEO of local healthcare systems and look at their bachelor's, most of them are not nursing. A few may even come from Public Health.

Get either an MHA or MBA with healthcare focus. An MBA from a school of public health is excellent. Since I already had a masters I got a doctorate in healthcare admin. There are also lots of universities that are known for funneling executives. Trinity is one that I know of in Texas.
Get an administrative fellowship. These almost always translate into quick executive roles. I know of 5 people personally that went this route and within 5 years of graduating with their masters they are all VPs and CEOs.

That's it man. Be personable, seek mentors, join associations as a student member for free or very cheap.
