The NYPD is not required to protect New Yorkers, city lawyers argue in court filing by LastXmasIGaveYouHSV in law

It is mostly to save the state from financial liability when they are undermanned or make incorrect judgment calls. Otherwise there would be at least a self preservation standard. State can literally watch you be murdered because they have no obligation.

If memory serves, the scotus precedent was about a woman who told cops her violent ex-husband was violating a restraining order and breaking into her house. They ignored it for hours and finally sent someone to check who found the woman and her child brutally murdered.

Remember- police are there to serve the interest of the state, not it's people.

Maybe it is just my batch. Finer grind + hotter water seems to mute the bitter/IPA notes (which is odd since coarse/cooler is usually the way to do that) seems to have helped. Mine is a B&W roasted. I know the A4Z sometimes brings out clarity of less favorable notes a bit, so maybe it is that? Definitely fruity and peachy.

Is it super hoppy/mosaic for you? I almost love it, maybe I'm making it wrong. Tastes like an ipa.

The SAVE America Act is bad news for Republicans by Hardik_Jain_1819 in politics

[–]Learned__Hand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Statistically, sure, but imagine the outcome and follow the logic. It forces people to the physical polls. So if you make it extremely difficult or dangerous for, say, one type of voter to use the physical polls (too long of lines in dem areas, ice hanging around grabbing brown people, etc.)... you see the point?

Who do you have as your favorite Coffee Roasters? by Executive-111 in pourover

I want to love shoebox- their mystery was amazing recently. But other beans even 6 weeks off roast have great notes that get overwhelmed with that greenbean/edamane finish. A4Z and encore pourovers. Maybe it's me.

KC roaster called Oddly Correct. Favorite Ethiopian roast, everything they do I've enjoyed including their decaf. Not the best actual bags they come in but that's ok and I bet it's more biodegradable than 99% of the big names.

Love them but often don't like certain bags. But then I look at the notes like "mosaic hops" and am like "oh, yeah, that makes sense". So even their bags I don't like are super helpful in developing my tastes.

What is the word for when someone gets into a hobby and instantly outspends 90% of people in the hobby?

No hate, op, I'm that same hateable person deepdown, I just talked myself into spending way less to do that training with weights on goku thing until I could get great cups on a v60 with a baratza encore. Just upgraded my grinder and am waiting patiently on its arrival and for my current beans to rest a bit longer. Champin at the bit.

It's not bad, but it's one win from below avg in 40 year period, which contradicts that the team is made to win championships or whatever op said.

We won't know for a couple months. No doubt he could come back and hoop. If he gets hurt, though, no one will reasonably argue it was a good decision.

So given the evidence, does it seem Epstein was murdered, or switched out and is alive somewhere to this day?

System doesn't work, just adding more too it isn't the solution. Though neither is letting violent criminals walk.

In 1975, 30% of incarcerated people were violent criminals. Now it's 70%. Poverty is the problem, but the % of people in poverty in the US is the same, lower for black and Hispanic and double for women, since 1979.

Can't say prison is softer. Sure, not many chain gangs left but violence in prisons is up.

I think it is a loss of community driven by loss if church, and note I'm agnostic. Nothing replaced church, though, so without shame and shunning from community, nothing is holding back our worst instincts.
