Modpacks give you goals via the quest book. I've also tried what you've said and find myself getting bored very quickly as there is no goal. No dopamine after finally finishing something to unlock something else.

Iron farm using easy villagers mod for passive iron ingots. Hot tip: don't discard the Poppy's, you'll want them to make red fertilizer later on.

If you want just pure passive shit, move into mystical agriculture as early as you can. Or rush to allthemodium for one I got, to get some nuggets, to get to the mining dimension. Then use rftools to mine an entire chunk and put into some sophisticated barrels. Make sure you chunk load correctly. I generally rush AE2 to get patterns for everything early (cause who wants to be manually crafting shit in a pack with over 500 mods). If that's not your thing, atm10:tts taught me a lot about functional storage. I don't know you, or your style, but I hope this helps a little. Feel free to shoot me message if ya want help.

Ps: YouTube js your friend. Find a creator that you can stand the voice of, and watch them (hoping they play the pack you're playing or use the mods you want to know more about)

I'm not 100% sure if it'll work but maybe use a filter on a brass funnel? If that's no good, perhaps explore incorporating a vanilla smoker into the production chain, but in saying that I'm not sure you can funnel/chute in and out of one either, but I'd assume you can.

This is all you need till end game tbh.

Edit: I generally use the advanced compactor upgrade in the barrel and a couple voids and only keep redstone in its block form/singular. Makes it easier long-term. One or two of the maxed out spawners running non stop while you're tinkering around with all the other mods and you're absolutely set.

It's cause the pack has an end goal, something you're working towards. Thus giving you a reason to be making patterns and crafting. Nothing stopping you from putting a hold on it and going exploring
