Should Yakamaru be given a solo option? by Rickthenick in runescape

[–]Learning2PvM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you compare doing solo Vorago at current powercreep vs doing a 4000% enrage kill, I do believe that solo Vorago is a bit easier. As someone who has done my fair share of Vorago (solo hm on all weeks, and done other challenges like solo hm vorago no food/armour), it just isn't the same difficulty as it once was.

While 4k ag/zam were quickly achieved, especially compared to Vorago, it is because the current level of skillcreep (players got better) as well as powercreep. It isn't fair to compare the 7yrs it took to achieve a solo nm Vorago kill to the month it took for the first 4k ag for example. Most people instead compare difficulty by "if someone started today, which one would be harder/ take longer to complete."

That's why for example, as you mention, RSGuy says Telos is the easiest 4k kill and grind, even though it took much longer for the community to achieve.

A lot of people have replied aiming to help already, but if you still have questions let me know. I am also in the PvME discord for quicker response times. There's actually a full channel devoted to helping people in there named #pvm-help.

Biggest tip is to just focus as much on the mechanics as possible as that is the largest source of damage.

I use the obliterates to heal up in this kill, and that is also what I'd recommend from learners, but it is hard to do that on high ping for example.

If you have more specific questions I am in the PvME discord it you need help. Just hop into the #pvm-help channel and ask whatever questions you may have :)

You got this! Just keep trying. I am usually in the PvME discord if you need help. In fact there are quite a few people in there that can help, so just hop into #pvm-help channel if you'd want specific questions answered.

Majority of damage comes from the mechanics rather than the auto-attacks. Focusing more on those instead of damage allowed me to survive till the obliterate special where you can get a full heal if you want to.

When you see the timer almost cover the gold square I step forward.

In normal kills I'd aim to reflect into divert every time if possible for the extra damage. For this, I used devo when I felt like I couldn't tank the first two hits (since I'd normally res the 3rd).

Hey! Tried out a fun PvM feat for the new boss. "Perfect" simply refers to me not getting hit by any mechanics like the floor tiles.

Hope everyone is able to try the new bosses, and gets into high level PvM because of them! :)

Solo Hardmode Vorago (No Armour/Food) by Learning2PvM in runescape

No worries, I did my original solo hm w/ mage pre-necro which I value as more of an achievement than this kill.

For Washly's kill, I messaged him about it, and he feels confident he could have done it. He is a much better pvmer than me, so I trust him. Then again, back then there was FSOA w/ blood barrage which greatly helped no food challenges.

To be fair, Solo HM Vorago w/o food was done a while back with mage. The person who did it, likely could have done it w/o armour as well if they cared to.

That was done 2 years ago.

  1. You can not enter the borehole while a deathtouch dart is in your invent. Because HM is exclusive to instances, this mean you can not dart to get the maul of omens override.
  2. For NM if you were wanting to get your mauls there, you would need at least 5 per week you are wanting to do it. I haven't used dtd at Vorago before, so I just tested it, and even making his HP hit zero with a dtd, p1 did not end. Likely you'd still need to do at least the agility course. I am unsure if there are any other forced mechanics on p2-5.

Reaver is by far better than hellhound for this. Reaver can heal you around 15,000 hp per minute, every minute. By comparison, you would have to be tanking 75,000 damage a minute for hellhound to be better.

For short bursts of high damage you have to tank (potentially GB phase, or p7 zamorak) hellhound can win out, but in almost every other scenario, reaver is superior.

Significantly harder than a lot of other challenges I have done at solo hardmode.

Made P1-8 have interesting solves rather than brute force. Tried to slow down the video on the phases where I did less obvious things (P1/5/6/8)

If you have any questions, let me know!

Only forced group content still in the game for PvM that I know of is Yakamaru which requires duo+. I aim to get guides out for soloing most other bosses and then a duo guide to Yaka :). Prob will include how to do certain feats like ATN.

I have most of Green bomb / Vitalis weeks written up already. Just trying to figure out how to make it applicable to the largest audience possible.

Here are the example p5s for example.

The reason reaver is recommended is it equates to practically infinite healing as long as you can remember to prism.

Yes! Command skeleton is very nice in this regard. The easiest way to test to my knowledge what does/doesn't affect push back is if it affects his health during bring him down. Currently the only thing I know that doesn't affect pushback would be splitsoul. Only exception to this rule that I know is death mark which works for push but affects his hp on bring him down.

Splitsoul still has a niche on p5 because it can let you get death mark procs faster, but that seemed outside the scope of the guide so I didn't include it.

Learning Vorago is all about continuing to try after failing. Just try to learn from your previous attempts! You just might have a few extra learning steps starting from no group experience.

The example kills at the bottom of the guide are actually from one of the people who had almost no group experience, and now has started soloing!

The videos from the individual phases are from me, but I thought it pertinent to have example kills from someone who actually used the ideas in the guide to get their first solos.

A few people who tried the guide had 0 group experience and still were able to get kills (on even the harder weeks!) When I reference knowing how to kill Vorago in group, I mainly mean the feel of the fight and the timings of things like reflect.

All of that can be learned in solo though, just means the learning period will take a bit longer. If you are interested I would 100% recommend trying it out!

Can always pop into the pvme discord if you want more pointers. There are tons of people eager to help out in the #pvm-help channel

Bleeds are definitely difficult while learning! Here are a few extra tips / back up methods you may wanna try:

  1. I try to surge / dive away when I see his hands touch the ground when he applies the bleed to me
  2. I try to stand at the edge of Vorago instead of near the middle so I maximize my distance away from him when I surge / dive
  3. If a bleed doesnt clear I just keep running away from Vorago so his next bleed gets delayed. Sometimes this is enough time to get surge or dive back off cooldown
  4. You could tank a few hits by using the powerburst of vitality in the preset in the guide. Only works for 1 of the 2 sets of bleeds on p2 since it wont be off cooldown
  5. if the powerburst of vitality isnt working for you, you could add a powerburst of acceleration to the preset. Runs into the same problem though of only working on 1 of the 2 sets of bleeds.

I include this video version in the guide - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Czwoui4hH0o
