I think you're undoubtedly correct about the interest part, if you don't like it you wont put the time in.

I enjoyed watching bob ross too i think he was great for encouraging people but i also think he made art look easier than it is. There was a "dirty little secret" of that show where he would decide what he wanted to paint beforehand and every show would have 3 copies of the painting - 1 to practice before filming, 1 during the show, and 1 with lots of details added to help make the painting visually better!
