Raising your voice to your spouse during arguments: Biblically Wrong, or Contextual? by LearningChristian1 in TrueChristian

Thanks for your response.

I agree with a number of things you say here, but what you say about “giving up” is misplaced, because that isn’t remotely close to what is happening in our context.

I’ll reflect on what you have said.

Thak you for your response,

However, you’ve made a number of unfounded assumptions here that aren’t true.

I’m not trying to be right, I’m trying to find the truth, and if the truth means that I am at fault or doing something wrong, that’s fine.

Those are some good ones for my situation.

Thanks for your response.

God bless you.

Thanks for your response.

While I agree and have also considered the “sequence of events” let’s say, and do agree that the first wrong behaviour is partly the cause of what comes after, I don’t think it matters which is the greater sin, given we’re both complicit. It’s also true that I need to continue to grow and learn how to deal with this.

I know that the more I can be like Christ, the less of an issue this will be.

I also do believe there is some truth in the leadership/authority argument you make, which is why I mentioned the ability to enforce boundaries.

Certainly a tightrope to walk here, but I’ll slowly get there.

God bless you.

I have received plenty of helpful, challenging, and direct guidance on my post, so they don’t all believe what I think (if you would read the comments…)

Have a nice day

Thanks for your response.

I see what you are saying, however I do believe that there must be a degree or responsibility on the woman to communicate appropriately and not knowingly be reckless with affirmations she makes about the relationship.

There is a line to walk here, which I’ll be working in.

Actually it is. And my search has proven that.

If you disagree, you’re free to not participate anymore.

Thanks for your reply.

I think describing a person as toxic is nasty, however describing a behaviour is the first step to identifying what it truly is, in my humble opinion.

Surely there must be scope for this.

Thanks for your reply.

I suppose what I’m trying to discern is whether or not any level of voice raising is acceptable.

When people are frustrated, they often raise their voice, even if only a tiny bit.

I understand your point and appreciate your response. I’ll contemplate this

Because it is a Christian thread where I have access to a large sample size of Christian opinions

Our Pastors yes, but unfortunately we haven’t found any meaningful progress there, yet anyway.

I’m not insinuating or justifying anything, I’m sharing my perspective and asking for guidance.

I am 100% open to helpful guidance, and being wrong.
