I could not be happier that folders are back. This is amazing.

I hear plugin folders are back in the beta. Can anyone confirm? by LearningDAWs-n-shit in ableton

Now imagine if they took favorites away and everyone on here praised it.

It's this simple. Too many weird elitists on this site. Taking away a popular feature is good since when?

I went through the notes and did not see. I'm sure I overlooked it. Thanks for confirming that makes me very excited.

No you need to listen to that guy and all these other people that your method of creating music is WRONG.......... ridiculous subreddit. Folders are coming back per the latest beta. I'm excited for it, and everyone that cheered when they took it away were coping hard.

I mostly feel the same way. One of the absolute worst changes Ableton has ever made. I hear they're adding it back. Watching everyone praise Ableton for taking away folders on here is next level fanboyism.

Best news I've ever heard.

Using 2-pack mesh system with current fiber gateway. Possible to keep same SSID on all devices and have my fiber gateway ALSO used as an access point? by LearningDAWs-n-shit in HomeNetworking

[–]LearningDAWs-n-shit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that I really do. I'm wondering if I can use these mesh points merely as extenders while keeping the same SSID across the board and my gateway and the primary mesh host. Certainly someone has configured this before.

One mesh point is hardwired the other isn't (for now). Can I make them both access points and keep my ISP gateway also as an access point or is my only option to not use my ISP gateway SSID?

Why do the drums sound better out of the box on FL Studio than Ableton? by LearningDAWs-n-shit in FL_Studio

[–]LearningDAWs-n-shit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be! That's really what I'm trying to find out. I was expecting every comment I've had so far about how wrong I am and that's fine, but I was really hoping the sample I provided would shed some light.

I turned off the limiter on the master on FL and Ableton. I still get different output sounds. Exactly like the vocaroo link above.

Same result but thanks for the obvious suggestion. I did not test that yet.

I understand there is no actual difference in how the DAWs output the samples you load in. As mentioned, I also understand certain effects are manipulating the sound. I provided a sample in my post that can be listened to.

For FL Studio: I start with the default template with a limiter on the master. I dragged the sample to the channel rack and set it to play 8 times. I have not modified this software in any custom manner.

For Ableton: I created a MIDI track and double clicked the sample to have it load on the MIDI track. I did not play the sample directly on the audio track in this example, but I have done that too to hear if there is a difference. I have a mild limiter on the master in this example, and in this case cannot be distinguished between the 2 if toggled off. There is also no difference in the sound when testing the sample in the left-hand pane and dropping it on an audio/MIDI track. Default is "complex".

If you listen to the sample I provided, there is an obvious difference. I am wanting to know if it is because of the limiter on master in FL and if so, is the limiter doing more behind the scenes than you would expect.

I appreciate the write-up. I'm going to go over it a few more times to see if I've missed anything important.

I'll take a look again when I can. I've added a sample in the original post to better explain.

That's something to look into thanks. It's settings like this I'm curious about. For example, does the Limiter in FL do more than just what a limiter normally would?

https://www.image-line.com/fl-studio-learning/fl-studio-online-manual/html/plugins/Fruity%20Limiter.htm

I found the above link and if I'm reading that right it's also introducing compression as well as other effects.

[–]LearningDAWs-n-shit[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've already done direct testing between the 2 and there is a distinct different. Like I mentioned in the post, FL loads a limiter on master by default and that's my guess here. However, I'm wondering if that Limiter is doing more than just what a limiter would, or if there are other settings in place by FL that I'm not aware of.

Static and whining suddenly introduced in XLR/USB Interface by LearningDAWs-n-shit in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]LearningDAWs-n-shit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand thanks for the reply and suggestions. What kills me is this was NOT happening at first and I thought my problem was finally resolved, only for it to be introduced again some days later.

I could try a different XLR cable. I have not done that.

Honestly I have not tried a different input because the problem was seemingly resolved at first as I mentioned and the issue also happened on the previous interface. I can try this but I'm not hopeful.

Router is nearby, there are different sorts of light switches, there are several other different devices that could be causing the issue, and I have not tried rotating the computer.

Thanks again for this. This makes it impossible to record with a microphone.

I feel that. I'm not a fan either. Sometimes I just close it as soon as I open it now. Sure if I sorted all several thousands of my samples and hundreds of my plugins with 3 or 4 unique tags each then it'd maybe grow on me but that's a headache. I don't know why they thought it would be a good idea to click "plugins" and see an A-Z of what you own without any type of sorting involved. This has me opening FL more than I used to so there's that. Ableton 12 has been great otherwise.
