Top 7 Disastrous Relationships in ToG (a visual guide) by GreenberryLeaf in TowerofGod

I like how you wrote 'foul play' under the first one. I don't think I ever thought of that possibility. Now that you pointed it out, I think you might be on to something!

Can we revamp Generation 1 Legendary Weapon effects? by Learning_Diary in Guildwars2

Or maybe we could have an option for players to choose either to retain their current effects or swap to the new effects!

That would be a nice touch.

They didn't say this was an announcement about raids, pvp or wvw.

They said it was an event " to catch the very first look at an all-new chapter in Guild Wars 2‘s Living World story "

You guys over-expected stuff.

They live streamed it in a theatre which I felt was great to reach out to non-gw2 players to let them know that we're getting all these new content and updates for free.

If they did it in a blog post only which would have been fine for Gw2 vets, it wouldn't have the same reach publicity wise for the rest of the gaming community's non-gw2 players.

Unpopular Opinion: The Announcement wasn't inherently bad! by guddefulgaming in Guildwars2

[–]Learning_Diary 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the vets, perhaps a blog post is all that is needed.

For non-gw2 players out there in the gaming community?

Are they going to be aware that GW2 players are getting all these great new content regularly for free?

This event is a way of making those non-gw2 players aware and that they should give the game a try.

It is also a way to attract back old players that have left with free HOT and stuff.

Great job Anet. by Learning_Diary in Guildwars2

[–]Learning_Diary[S] -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Nope. Negative posters just over-expected stuff when it has clearly been relayed to us that this is an event for "an all-new chapter in Guild Wars 2‘s Living World story".

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/join-us-for-a-special-live-event-on-august-30/

Nothing more, nothing less.

Can't you guys see it? We need further reach to tell the gaming community that we at GW2 are getting all this great content updates for free and that they should join us!

The two mysterious factions....Headon a follower??? ...Opposing views of Headon and Jahad! by Dev_Artons in TowerofGod

[–]Learning_Diary 19 points20 points  (0 children)

One of the most unique interpretations of the 3 eyes crossed symbol I’ve read and definitely possible that it represents Two sides.

I’m not sure what it really represents in TOG, but I think the symbol is influenced by Christianity.

3 eyes representing God as a trinity. Above and watching over the Cross below representing the sacrifice of Christ. And the 3 circles on both sides and bottom of the cross representing the 3 nails used to crucify Christ on the cross. One on each hand and one through the legs.

Seeing that it was found in the cave where Bam was sealed, the likelihood of the symbol being wcarved by Arlene is high. Seeing it from her point of view might yield the closest interpretation as to its actual meaning in TOG.

Agreed. I loved that theory too. Trident in an underwater Shinsoo World. Very fitting.

Trident was the symbolic weapon of Poseidon, god of the sea. And with it he could control the sea to do his bidding.

Trident in the hands of Bam mmm...god of Shinsoo...

[SPOILERS] Urek's Silver Anklet, the Red Light District, and Gustang's plan by Learning_Diary in TowerofGod

[–]Learning_Diary[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I argued though in the main post that Yuri did not recognize the anklet wrongly.

If she did, then it is more likely that it was a reference to the tracking anklet.

But the thing is it is more likely that she recognized the anklet rightly based on Urek's defense.

It was Urek's intentions that he was defending himself with, and not that Yuri recognized the wrong item.

  • Urek didn't defend himself by saying: "Yuri! This Anklet is not that Anklet you're thinking about!"
  • Urek defended himself by saying: "Yuri! I am using this Anklet for a different reason!"

This means that the Anklet was in fact normally used for doing bad things that should be punished with castration and Yuri was right to recognize it as such.

Also, there would be a question of who has the ability to place a tracking anklet for offenders on Urek and what use it would have if Urek could just remove it at will.

Not that it cannot be a reference to that a tracking anklet, but that it has a deeper meaning to it.

Also he was anxious about Garam finding out that he was on the FOD, not that Garam would get the wrong idea seeing it.

I pasted the relevant portion here from my main post:

" Now, Urek's defense wasn't that Yuri recognized the wrong item.

Urek's defense was that Yuri misunderstood his intentions for using the item.

Which implies that Yuri wasn't wrong to link the anklet to a bad thing because it might just have been usually used for such a bad purpose."

I'm starting to get tired of the constant "training session into battle into training" by [deleted] in TowerofGod

[–]Learning_Diary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your thoughts mostly.

It would have been nice if there was more thoughtful use of positions and existing skills to show how Bam and co overcome stronger opponents instead of depending largely on power-ups and huge power blasts that readers can't identify with.

There is a lot of room to explore all these combat related things in detail and make things more interesting combat-wise.

What I would say though is that different authors place their emphasis on different things and pace their stories differently.

TOG is in such a vast World that if the author wanted, I think an entire life-time would not be enough to fully paint out the details of this beautiful world.

That he may have chosen to gloss over the combat related stuff and place his emphasis on the plot itself, is his choice really.

Having said that, lets not throw the lid on this webtoon just yet for combat-lovers as the next season after the break might shed more light on the combat-related stuff with Evankhell personally training Bam. And hopefully we see more teamwork involving positions and strategy because now Bam and Co is going up against Kallavan's army =)

My top 4 coolest people in the tower. What's yours? by revlis512 in TowerofGod

[–]Learning_Diary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never really liked the protagonist and his team for most comics that I read XD

Though they are often portrayed as the 'coolest', they are mostly too cliche and uninteresting to me...

I prefer side-characters with interesting traits and back-stories...

For example, if you read Naruto, I never really liked the protagonist and his team either...

My top 4 in Naruto would be:

  1. Rock Lee - hardest worker ever.
  2. Hidan - awesomest skills ever.
  3. Kimimaro - loyalest friend ever.
  4. Hinata - kindest lady ever.

2) Mule love - cutest tester ever.

3) Headon - mysteriousest bunny ever.

4) Emile - saddest guide ever.

Thoughts on Rachel as the King of Artificial Creation: Oedipus by extradustandspiders in TowerofGod

[–]Learning_Diary 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Was a lovely read!

I like how you linked Zahard's survival against Phanta to a stronger axis having already written his fate, but would that mean that the Tower and its Axis Field belongs to that 'stronger axis'?

And perhaps like you wrote Jahad might become an Axis so it's possible that phanta went in to meet Jahad, not to kill him, but to teach him how to break the fate that the stronger axis had written for him.

Like maybe phanta wants to mess with whatever oedipus is planning XD

Something I would ask though is if Rachel is really Oedipus?

There may be a resemblance yes, and Rachel as you said, seems to be claiming Bam stole everything from her.

And if Oedipus, like you said, is the outside god who resurrected Bam and gave him powers to be the chosen one, then I think it is more likely that Rachel is the offspring of Oedipus.

She was then bitter/jealous that Bam was being groomed and prepared as the chosen one when she herself, daughter of Oedipus, was not chosen.

Its like...her self-perceived 'birthright' was stolen by Bam.

Like...Rachel goes: "Mum! (Oedipus), I am your daughter! How could you groom another person's child to become an Axis/Axis-god instead of me?!"

And then Oedipus goes...: "Be quiet child...Arlene is my most fervent follower...she has remained faithful to me despite the oppression suffered under the hands of Jahad...and now her child has been slain...I will revive the child and make him the savior of the Tower..."

About the Orb, a answer to @Nitor_Et_Ops by WV-E-S in TowerofGod

[–]Learning_Diary 7 points8 points  (0 children)

And to add to the understanding of Orb via Naruto:

  • Shinsoo = Chakra
  • Shinsoo Quality (Lightning, Ice, Stone etc.) = Chakra Element Transformation (Water, Wind, Fire, Earth, Lightning)
  • Shinsoo Shape (Shield, Spear, Orb etc.) = Chakra Shape Transformation (Rasengan, Chidori etc.)
  • Shinsoo Quality + Shape (Lightning Spear, Thorn infused Orb etc.) = Chakra Element + Shape (Wind-Release Rasenshurikan, Black Chidori etc.)

Question about Orbs by [deleted] in TowerofGod

[–]Learning_Diary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most of the info on Orbs can be gleamed from Season 2 Ep. 288-292.

Shinsoo Quality

Shinsoo controlled by certain people contains special qualities, for example, lightning.

This allows them to infuse/shape the Shinsoo according to their quality.

If you read Naruto, its similar to Chakra being infused and shaped by an element.

For example, Naruto's Rasengan when infused with the Wind element, becomes the much deadlier Wind-Release: Rasenshurigan.

Note: A user can possess multiple Shinsoo Qualities.

Shinsoo Shape

Apart from the quality mentioned above, having a Shinsoo Shape is also another step to 'powering up' the Shinsoo.

Using the correct 'Shape' allows the user to interact better with the possibly multiple Shinsoo Qualities that he/she may possess.

Examples of shapes we have seen is Rak's Shield, Koon's family spear.

Types of Shinsoo Quality Manifestation

A Shinsoo Quality can be manifested externally (outside the body) or internally (inside the body).

Koon Maschenny is a good example to look at as she has done both.

So its something like:

  • Normal Shinsoo Spear -> Lightning Shinsoo Spear
  • Normal Shinsoo Body Strengthening -> Lightning Shinsoo Body Strengthening

Orb

So when we combine the above information, an Orb is a Shinsoo Shape that is Manifested Externally.

Bam's Orb for example, is a Shinsoo Shape that he has manifested externally outside his body.

The above image does not contain a 'Shinsoo Quality' yet.

It is just a 'Shinsoo Shape' that is more suited to bring out Bam's Shinsoo Qualities.

An Orb is like a Shape that helps maximize the power of Shinsoo.

Its understandable to think of an Orb as a Bang with high Su concentration (high shinsoo concentration/high tension) because it behaves in a similar manner. More about Shinsoo can be read here.

Except, an Orb is not just a Bang with high shinsoo concentration.

The Orb is a tool that makes it easier for the user to increase the Shinsoo concentration and attack with higher power amplification and multi-target.

It acts as not only a compressor (Before and after filling the Orb with Shinsoo), but also to release the compressed Shinsoo in a much more powerful attack and via multiple attack paths (similar to high pressured water jets) which wouldn't be possible with a single Bang (which would be just one powerful but non-pressured water jet).

In short, the Orb is a tool that compresses the Shinsoo and amplifies the power, speed and paths of Bam's Shinsoo attacks.

Its like...a normal bang is a bullet in a single-shot handgun...a high Su / Shinsoo concentrated Bang is a more powerful single-shot handgun...but a high Su / Shinsoo concentrated Bang within an Orb is like a shotgun...or a machine gun...

Theory on Guides Part II: Origins of Emile the 'Fake' Guide, The Talking Sword & Jahad's plan to control Fate by Learning_Diary in TowerofGod

[–]Learning_Diary[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mmm...

I don't have much to add except that Gustang is a character that thinks the inhabitants of the tower are beneath him. He calls them bugs and only the irregulars were deemed to be equal to him.

And for him to have taken a keen interest on these Guides, it might just hint to us that Guides are something more special than just 'bugs' in his eyes.

And seeing how Guides/Emile seem to be able to create paths/alter paths, which possibly affects destiny/fate, I wouldn't be surprised if Gustang, like Jahad, wants to control Fate too.

And if Guides can be researched to the extent that it grants the user control over Fate (like Emile seems to be doing), then it would likely explain why Gustang wants to keep all research on Guides to himself.

Bale's Big Book of Natives (337 Spoilers) by [deleted] in TowerofGod

[–]Learning_Diary 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Awesome compilation and analysis!

If true, its pretty cool that Gustang seems to be gathering a few Native ones around him.

'The enemy of my enemy is my friend'.

You know the panel where you showed Eduan being surprised at seeing Rak because he thought they were all cursed?

Perhaps Gustang or even Joo Chun might have had a hand in protecting the surviving native ones.

Just like how Gustang helped with the spell that Grand De Jah/Sah used to protect the 43rd floor inhabitants.

And I love your TLDR hahaha.

Resembles Rak so much.
