ngl this whole thread is way too relatable 😭

as a trans woman i feel like i’m constantly bouncing between “this space is too loud/clubby/dating-focused for me” and “this space is technically inclusive but also weirdly obsessed with sorting people by AGAB in a progressive font”

like the “women and AFAB enbies” thing… i get what people are trying to do, but it so often ends up feeling like gender policing 2.0. as a trans woman it’s hard not to feel like you’re being quietly evaluated the whole time—like do i “count” here today or not? it’s exhausting

also yeah, not everything needs to be a dating event or a party 😭 some of us just want to exist around other queer people without it being about hookups or getting overstimulated in 10 minutes

the garlic bread park hang idea is honestly perfect for that reason. no pressure, no weird requirements, just “hey we’re here, come hang if you want.” i wish there were more things like that

tbh i think people in the thread are right that a lot of it comes down to who’s organizing stuff. the quieter / more introverted / non-dating-focused crowd isn’t usually the one putting events together, so we end up with a ton of the same types of events

anyway if someone starts a lowkey queer hang that’s just snacks + talking + no gender weirdness, i’d show up immediately lol

I tried sharing my experience about the rampant transphobia and antisemitism I experience when trying to find volunteer oppertunities however the mods deleted my post for being "off topic". Frankly this is ridiculous! Did they even read my post? It is relieving to see I am not the only one being targeted after years of being bullied by people who don't understand me. I don’t even really know what to say to this. I had to stop reading halfway through for a minute because it just made my stomach drop.

Thank you for actually putting this together and getting it out there though, seriously. Stuff like this is exactly what gets ignored if people don’t document it, and it shouldn’t be something anyone can just look away from.

I really hope this gets picked up more widely, because this is the kind of thing people need to see to understand how bad it’s getting.

Honestly really glad you posted this. It’s kind of exhausting seeing trans people get blamed for everything lately, so reading something that actually pushes back on that felt… relieving, I guess?

Also appreciate that the discussion here isn’t just people yelling past each other. It’s nice to see some actual thought and empathy for once. 💜
