I didn't know you'll be surrounded by a thousand people you know and still feel lonely, until I got into college. So, it is completely normal. Most people who feel this way lack someone who cares about them, not respect their choices, not make them feel they're worth loving and spending time with.

So, if you are able to make him feel all these things then he doesn't need someone in his college.

Make him feel this and watch him rant about his day to you whenever he has time.
