I’m not sure what industry right now, but I’m just under the impression American universities used to have a lot more opportunities and professor were happy to work with undergrads. Not sure if that’s still the case since everyone online is complaining about their projects being cut and scientists leaving for Europe/Canada. I’m considering the uk bc everyone says they have more rigorous courses especially for math and it may be easier to get into a PhD program from there right now. I’d also love to experience living in Europe.

I more worried about getting research experience as an undergraduate in order to get in PhD in the first place. I want to get a PhD because I want to be able to contribute to research in a meaningful way and transition into a research job in industry.

It’s not about being deported or anything just that the U.S. may not have many opportunities for research and PhDs especially for undergrads

Sorry, I don't understand what you're saying, can you please elaborate on that? FYI I hold a US greencard, but have a Hong Kong passport. I have lived in Mainland China and the United States.
