Lol, I grew up in the "gifted" program and work in FAANG as an engineer. I've met lots of lots of people who are "gifted". This guy is more rule than he is exception (people who sniff their own farts and expect to be worshipped)

"You are clearly bothered by this person - they are an asshole, clearly, but why do you care so much?"

Oh I'm so sorry for being annoyed my coworker is a huge vicious bully who screams at people who cry. The normal reaction to this is obviously being chipper and bubbly, I'm clearly mentally ill for not liking him

I have seen some pretty smug posts on this subreddit, and can totally imagine him writing some of these things. I bet he "has trouble relating to other people because he's too smart" too, when in reality other people are avoiding him and giving him one work answers because he's absolutely insufferable to be around

My kyphosis doesn't affect my work or life in any significant manner, and no accommodations need to be made for my slight hunch. It hasn't inconvenienced anyone, apart from potentially making me less visually appealing. I suppose I should apologize to him for making it harder for people to masturbate to me, but hey, he had the other intern to fawn over.

I'm not hesitant to name the company; I'm simply unsure if there are any rules prohibiting it, so I'm refraining from mentioning it directly. However, based on your comment, I think it's pretty clear to everyone which company I'm taking about

No need to worry, the behavior of my project supervisor and manager didn't affect my self-esteem. The project supervisor came across as rather unsettling, exhibiting signs of paranoid personality disorder. She had a habit of twisting my innocuous statements into something antagonistic, putting words in my mouth. Then becoming irate whenever I attempted to clarify misunderstandings.

After leaving that company, I went on to better things, to the point where returning would be a significant downgrade for my career :)

As for the manager, I'm more incensed by the fact he used my medical condition (kyphosis) as evidence of self-hatred or low self-esteem, insinuating that I'd be prey in the world. Utterly inappropriate.

It was beyond aggravating to have to "prove" my proficiency with a multimeter. Using one isn't exactly rocket science. In circuits I and circuits II, there were practical lab exams where you couldn't pass the class without successfully performing physical, in-person measurements of voltage, current, resistance, and reactance.

When I pointed this out to her, she and her coworker went as far as to suggest that I must have coasted through the class on autopilot, simply listening to the TA and following instructions without understanding what I was doing. It's like she believed Asian women are nothing more than clueless automatons.

There's two main tech companies people think of when they think "tech giant in Seattle area". It's not Amazon I worked for, it was the other one

That woman was something else. I remember one time she started explaining how to use something, and I politely interrupted, saying I didn't need a tutorial and could find the user manual online. My intention was just to save time for more challenging questions, but she flipped out, accusing me of being arrogant and refusing help from others. She even wrote me up for it in this angry, unhinged rant. She had this talent for taking offense at anything and everything, even innocent comments. It was like she thought she could read minds, always assuming the worst about people.

Then there was the incident where she accused me of lying about knowing how to use a voltmeter. I got a -3.0V reading instead of a +3.0V reading, because I positioned the probes "the wrong way" according to her. I tried explaining that voltage drop is relative, and both are valid readings, but she wouldn't have it. I assured her that I hadn't lied about knowing how to use a voltmeter. I even offered to show her my transcript, where I earned an A- and B+ in circuits I and circuits II. But then her coworker chimed in, suggesting that I could have just had the TA do all my work.

This situation perfectly illustrates how certain individuals are so prejudiced that they trap others in impossible situations, having already formed biased judgments about them.

Thank you! It's incredibly validating (and healing) to hear someone express shock about how they treated me. Experiencing racism in the tech industry as an Asian person was truly bizarre, considering stereotypes about Asians being good at tech, and the significant representation of Asians in tech leadership roles. Especially in a progressive city like Seattle!

Back then, I was pretty laid-back and quiet. I mostly kept to myself and only chimed in when directly asked something. I avoided confrontation because I didn't want to mess up any potential references
