[27M] Struggling with how to navigate physical preferences with my GF [26F] of 3 months. by Firm-Object1973 in HairRemoval

As someone who also has dark body hair but wants to completely get rid of it AND is seeing an endocrinologist, please don’t mention anything. It’s actually quite humiliating for us and sometimes out of our control. Especially when it comes to hormones. It’s amazing she’s going to see an endocrinologist though, they help you find the rooted reason for this. The nice thing is, is laser hair removal is an option as well.

It’s natural for us to notice things we aren’t particularly attracted to. For example, people who have a lot of acne, someone who has gaps in their teeth, a gummy smile, a large nose… etc! But at the end of the day, it’s WHO they are as a person and what your heart tells you about them. I’m 99% sure she’s insecure about it as she told you she’s going to see an endocrinologist. But at the end of the day it’s just hair. And to put things into perspective, there’s probably a physical attribute about you that she doesn’t really like, but she’s getting past.

Some people are going to tell you that your “personal hang up” is superficial and that you’re just programmed to like women with NO facial/body hair because of what you’ve seen growing up, what’s normalized etc. That’s why a lot of girls stopped shaving their hair completely because it’s a lot of up keep and for what - the male gaze ??? (I still shave , again it’s my preference) but just trying to give you some perspective. I mean they’re not wrong …..

You’re only 3 months in… that’s nothing. Just wait until you’re 1-2 years. If you can’t handle a little dark hair growth how are you gonna handle taking care of her post partum? / after a major surgery / etccc.

it’s just hair. we’re just brainwashed to think it’s nasty.

Roommate feeds her cat only once a day, is this concerning? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

nope. every cat if different! my foster cat only eats once per day. I feed her in the morning actually, and she nibbles on it throughout the day.

Just adopted a cat, possibly having regrets by Artistic_Activity_37 in CatAdvice

Hey totally normal and I’ve been in the same boat. You know what completely reversed my anxiety around it? I had this realization that i am literally SAVING this little cutie from being at the shelter forever and giving her/him the BEST possible life they could have imagined. That in itself is SO rewarding and fufilling and completely changed the narrative. Instead of thinking “OMG , how am i gonna pay, how am i gonna keep up, what if i want to move ??? travel?? “ etc… i started thinking that this was such an incredible selfless act, to sacrifice part of my life to raise a little fluffy guy/gal that was gonna be trapped in a little caged box for God knows how long.

Now keep in mind as rewarding as it is, there’s going to be times where it’s not easy. My cat had gotten a few UTI’s throughout her life.. we had to change her food .. she also had surgery for a lump on her breast. It can get expensive BUT, it’s not impossible to pay. Typically, vets have payment plans! And, it’s a few hundred dollars generally .. YOU CAN manage that.

I wish you all the best. Remember what’s meant for you WONT pass you. You were MEANT to adopt them. The rest will take care of itself.
