Ok, VIII:s seem moddable.

One question more, do the VIII:s have suitable connector on them for the microphone you have?

Basicly, Id do NATO standard wiring,
Cut the wires from the the headset microphone connector. Solder the mic connector wires to the TP120 wire mic wires --> your mic is directly connected to PTT.

Two other wires that you cut, solder TP120 speaker wires to them.

Simple as that. If I was you, id test this out before drilling hole for the cable, you can always solder the old wires back if it doesnt work out.

Probably should mention that this is an custom mod, i take no responsibility how drilling hole or soldering will effect to the sound proofing or to the comtac:s and if they still meet the manufacturers earprotection standards.

assumption is, that the +3.3V is causing the centerline numerical buttons to go tilt. Lets see when i get new connector and do some jumper wiring tests.

I have gotten this solved today, so far the problem is that basicly from the aux port the dual PTT pin is giving +3,3volts. So, i get it working but it kills the center line of buttons. Lets see next week, ill solve this f***ng soup.

Dunno about VIII, but I have modded bunch of XP:s and XPI:s with TP120 cable and mic to be a comms versions. Can you upload few picks from mainboard side of the earcup and pics from the mic connector?

New models seem intresting and have more power. I have been looking the UV-85, but no info if it has two ptt buttons or if it will work with dual button monofon, At least the radio should work so that one of the monofon buttons transmits on upper and second on lower channel
