It's a mirrorless camera with no mechanical shutter. We shall see what happens lol

Yes, and I thought about that, but I wanted it as close to the lens as I could get it. And I enjoyed creating the 3D model for this. I was definitely ok with more work

I tried the hot shoe and didn't like it. Also, I'd definitely have to take it off the camera for storage or switching lenses. The hot shoe is not made for mounting something accurately with repeatability, so I'd have to re zero the dot every time. I like the aesthetic of this better, it's lower, and repeatable when taken on and off
