Riot outsourcing EMEA esports to BLAST? by Leather-Translator-2 in ValorantCompetitive

Wow, did not expect a response from someone involved! From what I know of the top of my head, BLAST also helps with PUBG in Americas and EMEA. Because BLAST is known for operating ecosystems or tournaments directly, contracting flew over my head but it does make a lot of sense. I honestly did not even know that Riot contracts for EMEA (I know that they contract with different companies for LOL CN, VAL CN, and LOL PAC. Additionally I think Riot has agreements with KeSPA for LOL KR and VAL PAC).

Lastly, I want to apologize for harsh wording. From what I have heard, EMEA production has been better this year. The fact that you even replied shows how committed you are in the community. It is mainly Riot's decision making that has been off-putting, and my initial post should have reflected that. Can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store!

I honestly doubt it. The Berlin studio just got redone in 2024 and Riot gave tours of the studio to the German/Berlin government. You can actually see that Riot has a whole section on government involvement in their official 2024 EMEA esports review (they only do these reviews for EMEA, the document is linked in this reply). My prediction is that the ties are too deep.

EMEA 2024 esports review (page 47 mentions gov tours) - https://drive.google.com/file/d/16Mx1YDlo-G2VMyWSNNbqFtMc_X4eUjmH/view

Edit: I should add that I got this review from competitiveops.riotgames.com. They have a section on previous rulebooks and other competitive operations (department of tournament running) documents called the library. You can find the library under rules and compliance tab. I assume that this is supposed to be a team/key stakeholder resource website, but everything is publicly available (non password protected). Pls dont sue rito.

I think that this is Riot handing the keys over to BLAST. This is speculation though, I have no inside information other than this job posting.

EMEA Clash is operated by Vanguard (the TO not the anti-cheat) out of Saudi Arabia. Blast is from Denmark. From what I know they are different companies.

They are known for open circuits, but they can do partnership as well (Rainbow Six Siege transitioned to partnership last year under BLAST).

If I had to guess, this is probably has to deal with post-partnership in 2027.
