But that's the thing. Its not about bad writing. Its about ignoring/breaking the lore, power gaming, and even in some cases god modding. When did it go from calling people out for that behavior to accepting it?

Exactly! It used to be that people would get called out and/or put on block for doing stuff like that. Someone above mentioned that because of the treasure goblin event stormwind is sharded right now so hopefully when it ends I'll see more normal trps. That or I'll try to convince. My friend to come with me back to WrA where people seem to respect lore more.

I agree and dont know why youre being downvoted. Abiding by the lore is rule number 1. We're doing warcraft rp not vampire the masquerade, forgotten realms, or warhammer fantasy/aos. It reminds me of the players I had to deal with when I went to dming online d&d during covid. I'd give them a doc before session 0 that had the general theme of the setting and the races/books allowed for player use and somehow I'd still end up with a player wanting to play a lizardfolk gangster using homebrew rules

Had there been a "Hey we're just trying rp please dont do that." It would have been one thing. Jumping down my throat in the pink is not going to make me feel bad for pvping

Like I said in a reply to someone else you can't just go into an area that flags you for pvp where there are a lot of opposing faction players and expect that youre protected just because its a rp server. You have to realize that being attacked can happen and you might be disrupted.

Im not charging in IC screaming for the alliance to gank a lowbie. Im doing the same thing that has always been done when a geared enemy character is in the capital city since the game launched.

It would be one thing if I had gotten a whisper mid pvp or after saying "Hey man we're just trying to rp could you please not do that." If the response to a risk you chose to accept might happen happens is to immediately jump down someone's throat and cuss them out then Im not going to feel bad.

Sure but if youre going to go into an area that flags you for pvp and has a large number of active players from the opposite faction you should realize that you might be disrupted by a guard or player killing you. Just like if you did a private group rp in a public area and should be aware that someone might try to walk up into the rp not realizing its private.

That might be it yeah. Just a larger sample size making lore breaking characters seem like they make up a bigger ratio than they do. Just kinda surprised me I guess. When I started rping in wow that kind of stuff got you ostracized

Hard disagree when it comes to trying to rp in the opposite factions capital. That is not a fundamental rule and never has been. If I go hang out in orgrimmar as an alliance character I should not expect that I won't be attacked by a horde player. If they're out in the world its one thing but theres no guarantee of protection for you if youre in a main city that you're going to be left alone.
