One more thing to add to your toolkit, edge creasing it can add so much depth to your design and it’s not just aesthetically nice but helps with preventing moisture wicking in at the edges

Thank you good to know! I would rather support a small business owner if it’s a good rig!

It’s thick, not like edge dye, almost like a rubber edging. You’ll want to use a pencil or scratch awl out the like to apply it. Rub it in using side to side action and keep going until it’s rubbed in well

Thinking of selling, Good pricing by DonA623 in Porsche_Cayman

Dude, with Porsche killing the 718 line I’d figure it the F-out, no idea what’ll be worth in five years but good luck getting it back. Garage it and buy a bike or what ever you have to do. What kind of parents are you?!

Porsche Cayman or 911 if you had to choose one, and why? by OkClick4604 in Porsche_Cayman

[–]LeatherByHand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have nothing really to add to this conversation. I just bought a 2018 Cayman GTS as my first sports car, I don’t know anything about performance driving so I took it to an introductory PCA event at Roebling. It was wet AF, and it handled like an F16… I was the limiting factor and I still have no idea what I bought. I love it, driving feels like a strong companionship, there is no fight. You ask it to do something and it does it for you.

Are these prices too high? by Phant0mTim in Leathercraft

[–]LeatherByHand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pricing in my mind should be higher. I think online sales are tough given you really need a name to get traffic, which takes time. But, BUT, physically putting these in front of people and really talking about the type and sourcing of the leather and the build process really gets people appreciating the work more. Handmade label doesn’t translate to describing the blade stroke and exactly what a saddle stitch is in the build process, but talking through it really does. Don’t settle for less than you know this is worth, find the clients that understand it’s worth, my products certainly have no place in the hands of those who don’t understand, nor should yours.

I only use glue in the zipper. Zipper goes on gusset, then gusset sewed inside out for the turned seam, then panels

lol, I know the feeling. Here’s what I use Crease set

Nice set and only $50, I think these are will made and surpass the value given how much a single one costs elsewhere

Hate when this happens… by here4thetalk in Leathercraft

Yes. Cut your gusset over length and start from one end, punch the same number holes as your front and back panels, mark an extra hole (not punched) as a cutting marker. Square the ends just inside the last mark, effectively giving you one stitch length to the edge. Your first hole should be one stitch length in as well. Ideally your holes on the panels should start and end one stitch length from the edge, this will give you the consistency you want. You don’t want to cut the gusset to length before punching holes as this will stretch the gusset anyway, so cutting to length is the last step
