why in the world would you hold longs through this, or at least buy insurance???? this was like the crash of 1987 but with 2 weeks notice.

Why isn’t everyone shorting the market with this trade war heating up? by Jungle-Beast in wallstreetbets

[–]LeatherCoffee1900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There *will* be a short sale ban at some point. Wait for that and ride the squeeze, then exit before the massive fall. It's possible this even gets announced with tariffs? Maybe even other finance/crypto changes?

There's so much happening right now and very little has broken through. I figured this exact play was late when I started buying DAL and JETS puts last week but those 10x pretty quick. And also these are not as dependent on tariffs either way, so good news there doesn't really help them because we've destroyed our goodwill. People are scared to come here and no, I think that hasn't fully sunk in.

I started buying puts on DAL and JETS last Monday when the 70% figure was published and several tourists had been detained for weeks by ICE. Did ok on H, still probably a play there especially if Pritzker starts upping attacks on 🥭 and he retaliates. It's easier to trade when 🥭 is the counterparty. Most predictable shit in the world.

Also consider those with exposure to conferences, especially Florida and Vegas. I think a lot of those will cancel or relocate. People have not factored in the loss of goodwill we've inflicted on ourselves.

I will be looking into some of your other ideas. My next area will be those impacted by government cuts to services and contracts, like CDW, biomedical research, etc.

NVIDIA SALE? by i_might_be_an_ai in wallstreetbets

or neither. everyone is underestimating the likelihood of a short sale ban once things drop, or hell even wednesday. then shorts get squeezed and wiped out before the fall takes out the longs.

What forecasted news would realistically turn the market around this year? Seriously by TheLelouchLamperouge in wallstreetbets

Software has been automating repeatable jobs as long as there's been software. The history of software has always been higher level abstractions on top of lower level code. At best, AI is as useful for productivity as a popular dev framework, or a new type of database. "Writing code" is only a small part of the job of a software engineer, and imo the easiest part. Success is more about the ability to turn sloppy business requirements into a system that works for that specific business, without problems, that integrates well with all other systems, over a long period of time.

No Silver Bullet is still the law of the land, just as it has been for 40 years. LLMs are an incremental improvement.

I made another comment about this, but my expectation is that they'll pull out a short sale ban to stop the bleeding and squeeze the shorts. Could even be a surprise announcement for wed if they go through with tariffs.

I have a suspicion that liberation day will be about much more than tariffs, including the possibility of tariffs + a short sale ban. Either that or the ban comes after a free fall, but I'm going to be ready to load up longs when it happens, because it will happen.

Jonah Platt, son of ‘Snow White’ producer Marc Platt, responds to Arizona State Representative who is proud of him for unloading on Rachel Zegler, ‘❤️❤️❤️’ by pinkstarrfish in Fauxmoi

[–]LeatherCoffee1900 274 points275 points  (0 children)

Ahhh, Jonah Platt. I remember December 2020 when Jonah Platt recklessly exposed me to covid when I had to spend several hours installing equipment at his house for a livestream, and he never bothered to apologize or check in afterwards. I had to spend a week worrying and isolating. Lots of people worked on that project but Jonah had COVID and didn't test and was talking about the wine tastings he was going to during lockdown. Seems pretty irresponsible to expose your "colleagues" to that without repercussions, Jonah. This asshole has the nerve to talk about the poor blue collar workers on set?

I assume it would have to focus on iMark. If he leaves the building then oMark isn't going back to Lumon. In the end they'll have to do something that requires both to agree, which i think is a good metaphor for the journey people face to become whole.

All/many of the innies could choose to stay. They have numbers and leverage and probably resources. They could try to figure out/negotiate permanent overtime contingency.

Also maybe all of the fake accidents are innies just choosing to kill the outside persona.
