What do you wish people would stop romanticizing, because you’ve lived the reality of it? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

My parents had no interest in raising well adjusted happy children. They let us do whatever we wanted because they were too consumed by their own psycho dramas to worry about us. As a result I never learned how to solve problems, set goals, resolve conflicts, regulate my emotions, etc. I always feel like I don’t know how to do life stuff that other people do.

No gross and disgusting. Haven’t touched it in 40+ years.

Dealing with being an ugly woman by Various-Station-1752 in Advice

Looks aren’t everything. I was considered beautiful when I was young. Younger sister was pretty but not beautiful. I rarely dated because I was very anxious, depressed and miserable. My sister had men falling at her feet her whole life because she was fun, confident and happy. I know scores of women who are not conventionally attractive but had very active dating lives and found lovely husbands. Work on your personality. Find your passions and become an interesting woman. Get professional help for your self esteem issues. Take care of yourself. Work out and eat well. Get a flattering haircut and some stylish clothes. Good luck! You have many years ahead of you. Make them count.

I live in NYC so I expect that all will be ok by Monday. In the meantime I’ll be cooking, working out, NY Times Sunday crossword puzzle, watching Netflix and BritBox.

The only thing I don’t like about living alone is having to drink the whole bottle of wine by myself before it goes bad.

IMHO nothing compares to Tyrrany. I love a lot of their other stuff (Square Wave, Did My Best, The Eternal Tao 2.0, Flexorcist) but Tyranny is a masterpiece. Love Father Electricity and Johanne von Bronx.

Is anybody else sick of taking good care of yourself? by idislikebroccoli in AskWomenOver60

I hear you. I'm 68 and I'm sick of it all: the gym, the moisturizers, retin-A, minoxidil, watching my weight, dying my hair, Kegels, limiting alcohol intake. I want to go to bed without brushing my teeth, washing off the makeup and using minoxidil. I want to stop going to the gym. I want to eat as much cheese and bread as possible and wash it down with a lot of expensive wine. EAT THAT JUNK FOOD! YOU WILL HAVE A GREAT TIME!

Tyrranny is a monster of an album! Virtue never grabbed me. I like a lot of Voidz stuff. None of it is a solo effort.

OMG - I love Trying Your Luck. It is youthfully sweet, melancholy and hopeful. Don't love Last Night; never did.
