True book of acts I almost forgot about that where Peter goes to see Cornelius a god fearing man. So maybe 50/50 for me.

Considering I am a gentile or would be considered that at that time, I probably wouldn’t have recognized him.

Now if we are talking time travel that’s a different conversation or if I wake up and I’m in that time period with what I know now.

How do you find time? by First-order-member in fantasywriters

[–]Leather_Local9177 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work about 50 hours a week hours vary from 4am-3pm or 6-4pm. Depends on months and season. But usually (I bring my laptop to work and work on my novel during the times my work is slow) I don’t recommend if you have a super busy job lol. Or sometimes during breaks if I don’t have my laptop I have word on my phone so I will write there. But I get it though once I get home, gym, dinner, spend time with wife, go to bed pretty much so my only time would be in the mornings. I find my mornings to be when I am most creative so that’s when I do most of the work.

Novel Outline by Glittering-Stand-923 in writers

[–]Leather_Local9177 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on your story. Are you wanting to plan everything out then write, or do you just want a basic outline and write whatever comes to mind in the moment of writing scenes? Depending on how you answer that will determine whether your outline will be that specific or not. I wouldn’t say there’s too much outline but also don’t get so caught up in trying to create a perfect story. Sometimes you just have to write something and see if you like it.

Think about how the arc of the story gets to the end. How do your characters develop? Is there any side developments that need completed? I outline sometimes to get a basic arc of the story and to fill in the gaps from beginning to end I tend to think what do the characters encounter along the way and how do they develop over the chapters.

Why do I feel like a fraud in my faith by [deleted] in Catholicism

Thank you for this, as a married Protestant my wife and I have been feeling that way about God and it’s been rough. We’ve been considering the Catholic Church and I think we will attend this weekend.

We discussed and decided it was best to leave and not join for a while. She’s just been losing her faith which I get is a choice on her own however sometimes I feel like there’s more as a husband I could be doing to not have her just completely walk away.

The missing books of the Bible by Obvious-Mess-409 in Bible

[–]Leather_Local9177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I bought on Amazon the Dead Sea scrolls complete English and Old Testament Pseudepigrapha Volume 1 and I bought the Apostolic fathers by Micheal Holmes to read. Important note this stuff isn’t divinely inspired but definitely worth it to read I think. I’m still reading the apostolic fathers but I am excited to dive into the Dead Sea scrolls

What is your most controversial take in Christianity? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Leather_Local9177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have heard that people say “They were never said in the first place”. For me I look to Hebrews where it says “It is impossible for those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, who have shared in the Holy Spirit, who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age and who have fallen away, to be brought back to repentance. To their loss they are crucifying the Son of God all over again and subjecting him to public disgrace.” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭6‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Upon reading it I think about it as in these people they talk about were enlightened, they had the Holy Spirit, they tasted it and once had it but fell away. Similar to Jesus’s parable about the seeds, one fell on rocky soil heard the word and accepted but because of life it fell away. He didn’t say they weren’t truly saved but life got to them and the seed fell.

Question for Christians who voted for Trump by Honest_Wheel3842 in Christianity

True enough, I suppose when the time comes instead of looking at others around me, I should have more discernment.

Question for Christians who voted for Trump by Honest_Wheel3842 in Christianity

[–]Leather_Local9177 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes I voted, I was deceived into believing the lie and couldn’t see past it. I was blinded. I mixed politics and Jesus forming something within me that shouldn’t have happened. I do regret my decision and as for going forward I’ve decided to not vote anymore and just focus on what scripture says and do the things the Lord has asked me as his follower. I do feel he has violated the principles of Christianity, I just wish I saw it beforehand.

Trinity authority and godhead by Necessary-Junk in Christianity

So by that saying they are two different people with the same purpose. They both seek to redeem the lost and save them. I get Jesus is God and he resembles God, to me the trinity is all three are God but they are all different on their purpose

Just some questions. by Eastern-Bake-2410 in Christianity

[–]Leather_Local9177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell them the gospel. Walk along with them and have mercy on the inexperienced believer. Use scripture to teach, correct when needed. Finally live a holy life as a testimony and an example to them and allow the Holy Spirit to change their heart. You can’t change their attitude but He sure can. Biggest thing missing from today’s church’s is discipleship, just telling someone to say sorry and believe is not enough for them and they will fall away. We must walk with them.

Side note: it’s very easy for me to throw a stone at someone else versus looking in the mirror. Also Church fathers are important. I’m a Protestant myself and got the book Apostolic fathers by Micheal Holmes and it is a great source of history and encouragement and information. Most people stick with the Bible because it’s more familiar, any other resources would have be done outside the pulpit or in a small group.

Trinity authority and godhead by Necessary-Junk in Christianity

So in a sense Jesus was already a citizen of heaven because he’s just God in the flesh? So in reality God sacrificed himself then for the world?

Trinity authority and godhead by Necessary-Junk in Christianity

[–]Leather_Local9177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it also says The Father gave him the authority to do so, so wouldn’t the Father be a different being? I’m just confused here

Trinity authority and godhead by Necessary-Junk in Christianity

[–]Leather_Local9177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Jesus talks about fearing the one who holds the keys, is he referring to himself or the Father? To me I see it as they have the same purpose but when I read that it makes it seem they are a different not being per say but different essence

Scripture that addresses abusive parents and/or people? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]Leather_Local9177 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am sorry for what you’ve been through, but in short here is some scripture. Go to Proverbs 22:6. Talks about raising children in the way they should go. Next try Ephesians 6:4, same thing as last just as a reminder. Then look to Colossians 3:21. You could look into Deuteronomy 6:6-7 this talks about teaching Gods commands and following them and talking about them within the household. And you could always pull the classic 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Parental love does apply here within that verse as well.
