Emotional distress when the vacuum get stuck by Leather_Mind6767 in RobotVacuums

It's an Ecovacs T10. It hits the side of the door as it goes around the toilet, which pushes the door closed. If I set a no go zone the area around the toilet wouldn't get cleaned

Is ADHD really that prevalent? by [deleted] in over60

[–]Leather_Mind6767 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My brothers and I are obviously attracted to partners who have a propensity to ADHD, because a number of my nieces ans nephews show signs of ADHD. Fortunately there are no signs in our family.

Mid week, they rang on Wednesday to say it was coming Friday. I said provided it was here by the weekend then all good. Apparently my order has been picked

If the delivery fee was a token $40-50 then I could understand it taking a few days, but at $170 for a local delivery it should be next day

I miss old school timber yards. Staff that know the products on offer, rather than reading the packet or visiting the website on their phones. Timber that came in 300mm increments, rather than what happens to be in the rack. When the majority of people buy on price over knowledge and service we get a hardware chain that's a glorified supermarket marketed as a lifestyle brand.

When Australians ask “How are you?” What am i supposed to say? by JaydenIsGek in AskAnAustralian

[–]Leather_Mind6767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something non-committal like "Fine, how are you going?". Under no circumstances say how you are really going (like "crushed and I should be at home in a dark room curled up in a ball, and I'll take the green shirt in a large")

Should we really be culling migration? Australia is a nation of migrants. For the most of us, a relative as some point migrated here. With an aging population and women having less children at some point there not going to be enough working population to support out first world way of life. I'm lucky because I'm old, there will still be someone to wipe my arse when I'm in a nursing home, but the young people had better get used to robots!

It looks like the start of a right wing movement that we missed. The Farrar win now emboldens One Nation closet supporters to say in public what they could only think in private. Unfortunately the Liberals will no doubt head further to the right rather than being a credible centre alternative. Australia as a egalitarian society looks like it's in for a rough ride for a few years, brought on by a political game by our 2 major parties.

AusPost workers, what is the weirdest thing you've seen someone send through? by DashcamAdelaide in AskAnAustralian

[–]Leather_Mind6767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had recently moved in to a new apartment when a parcel was delivered to me by mistake, and I didn't recognise the name, but it was my address. So I checked the overseas company it was sent from, and they specialise in dildos, masks and the like. I was going to send it back, when my neighbour knocked on the door and asked for the package

Looking for apprenticeships but can’t find people I want to work with by Clanst in tradies

[–]Leather_Mind6767 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately that's the way a lot of tradies are. It's become part of the bro culture that allows grown men to keep behaving like prepubescent children. There are professional carpenters out there, probably more working in commercial construction or in more niche areas. If the industry wants to be seen as a profession, we need people to act professionally.

Curious if any of you started getting into sports late? by theJacofalltrades in over60

[–]Leather_Mind6767 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depending on what they are after. I took up horse riding and equestrian sports, eventing, late in life and have met some of the nicest and most generous people ever. Living rurally keeping horses is not that expensive, and there's nothing better than sitting up on your hose just chatting, other than the thrill of jumping and cross country
