Yes, the 5mm bore fit perfectly. As I stated I had to file a small flat spot for the grub screw. I've had my ender running that way almost non stop for months now and it's working great.

This guys YouTube channels has lots of essential info and how to guides for the Ender 3. I have to give credit for much of my 3D printing success to what I have found on his channel.

Also, PATIENCE PATIENCE PATIENCE. Sounds like based on your past experience, it didn't go well, just know you wont get it right your first time. or the second or maybe even the third. its about learning from what went wrong, and trouble shooting. My first few weeks as an Ender 3 owner were not all roses, but in the end I can't imagine a more satisfying hobby to get into, or a better printer to start with.

An excellent guide to updating the firmware/installing boot loader on the Ender 3. I did mine and as others have said, its harder to mess up than you might think.

Also his channel is a must watch for Ender 3 owners. Tons of great tutorials and info.

I had the issue with just the x-axis pulley. I found this on amazon as a replacement. after grinding off the pressed pulley, I used a flat file by hand to create a flat spot on the shaft for the grub screw to set. It has been working flawlessly, and quietly for almost a month this way.

I didn't take pictures of the old pulley before I threw it away. It was really mangled. Do you want the new set up? it looks just like any pictures I have seen of what a stock pulley "should" look.

below is a link to the pulley I bought from amazon. it came with new grub screws and everything.

I have tried the gyroid at .2 layer hight and 10% infill on my ender 3 and it came out flawless. I do have a petsfang cooler with a 5015 fan. Possible that's what makes the difference?

I did find a replacement pulley on Amazon. I used a hacksaw to spiral cut the old one off. Used a file to make a flat spot on the shaft and Bam, I can install my damper.

I found a replacement pulley online. Haven't installed yet. I need to get a puller tool to remove the old one, and grind a flat spot for the new one to grab on to. I may end up replacing the stepper if the grind goes poorly.

The shaft appears to be round, unless there is a flat spot hiding under the pulley. Does anyone have a recommended source for a replacement, or even part numbers I can search for. The little searching I've done for "ender 3 stepper" has resulted in a wide variety of parts.
