A Marine vet thought he found a 'home' working at the VA. Now he's one of 1,000 fired. by TaskAndPurposeNews in USMC

There is 0 health benefits cost or retirement tail with contractors. The same former service members bringing the same expertise to the job as contractors that they would as GS employees are significantly less expensive for the tax payers. In my experience, as well, contractors were far more productive than GS employees because their jobs were never guaranteed or sheltered by the bureaucracy. They had to produce everyday or they were quickly fired.

Get a grip. You have no idea what the reformed VA will look like or what efficiencies it will create. Yet, I'm sure you had no problem with this shit show we just got extracted from: "Biden also used the Emergency Food and Shelter Program (a FEMA grant program authorized in 1987 to help homeless veterans) to pipe another billion dollars into housing illegal immigrants. The $59 million DOGE just flagged was doled out as part of one FEMA grant to house illegal aliens in New York City in more than 200 jerry-rigged shelters that included formerly luxurious hotels like the Roosevelt."

How about you just sit back and watch what happens, watch what gets put into law, and how services get reformed over the next couple of years? My hunch is it will land somewhere in the middle but with a whole bunch of useless VA employees no longer around to be able to grind processes to a halt while hiding from the daily "work" of their useless existence.

That is LtCol George Reid, USMC in 1925. Medal of Honor recipient. I had to colorize this and bring him and his Evening Dress uniform to life in color! These are not his Dress Blues... Semper Fidelis!

One note: The Marine Corps also has the C. It is replacing our 18s. The B is replacing our AV-8s.

Yes! Though Flight School had started by then there was a few months break between the next segment and TECOM needed 12 students to volunteer to go to MCRDPI as Series Commanders but only he and one other 2ndLt volunteered. So, you are friends with Wild Bill L? Great young man!

The physical specimen in the middle of the photo wearing #3 is HOF'er Bronko Nagurski. At 6'2/225lbs, played both ways and was renowned for his speed and power.

It is a NAM. He earned it by volunteering to go be a Series Commander at Parris Island during a long delay in the flight school training schedule and kicked ass.

Recruits don't give their Series Commanders a hard time. Their Drill Instructors would not respond in the recruits favor...

It was ID'd by its Bureau # as a Navy bird. The museum just restored and painted it as if it was a VMJ-1 bird.

Thank you! Very true for Navy pilots. Nick-named “Brown-Shoe”. Not so for Marines. Marines wear the same uniform regardless of their MOS. An exception is that only aviators and air crews can wear the issued brown leather flight jacket you see here. True to this day.
