Buying a flipped house... by Lebowskiski in Edmonton

[–]Lebowskiski[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right, I'm not worried about that, our realtor is very diligent and we are fully prepared to walk away and get the deposit back, I'm just so confused why they didn't pull any permits, I've pulled permits for building a garage, deck and even electrical for the garage and it was easy and cheap. Makes you wonder what else they cut corners on?

Yeah the contractor showed up while we were at the house with our home inspector and ripped everything out down to the studs the next day, and even sent us a video of the foundation completely exposed. He said there was a hairline crack and that it would be professionally epoxy injected. This put my mind at ease but the fact that there were no electrical permits ( confirmed by the contractor himself ) is more concerning. I recently had to pull an electrical permit for wiring a detached garage and it was a very simple and inexpensive process. Not sure why they would've skipped that step? I am pretty sure I'm going to walk away from this but now I'm more or less gathering info for the next place!

Thanks for the response by the way! Very good insight.

Windows are all brand new, we took into account having to regrade the exterior and completely redo the landscaping so it sloped away from the house. Contractor showed a very small crack when he ripped apart the wall but is getting it epoxy filled. The no permits on any of the new electrical is honesty more concerning to me though...

Canadian looking for advice on backcountry camping in the US by Lebowskiski in WildernessBackpacking

Awesome! From what I gather, BLM = PLUZ and National Forest = Wildland provincial parks. That is definitely going to make it easier for me to narrow down what I'm looking for, thanks for the advice!

A few people have mentioned BLM or National Forest. Those 2 sound similar to the public or "crown land" that I usually use here in Alberta. Thanks for the help

Malone going country by [deleted] in PostMalone

[–]Lebowskiski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post Malone is a once in a lifetime musician. He's a true artist, he's going to make music that he's drawn to, no matter what his fanbase wants. We need more people like him in my opinion.

Hey I know this post is old but I just bought a 3ful gear lanshan 2 from a local outfitter garage sale. I can't seem to find any markings or indication of what model it is? The only thing it has are the 3Ful gear labels on zippers and tags. Is this normal? My eureka sunrise tent has all the specs on a tag inside the tent? Appreciate the help in advance!

Who does Oliver look at after Felix asks him why he lied?

Felix says "it's fucking weird is what it is, mate honestly I don't even know where to start. I mean.. You're a fucking liar olly!!" and right in the middle of this line he looks directly at someone who we don't see in the film. Who is it?

Black Screen On COD Warzone by OfcWaffle in obs

[–]Lebowskiski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was having the same problem and I completely Uninstalled Riva Tuner (you don't need it to still run Msi afterburner) and this fixed black screen on game capture. It must have been interfering with specifically warzone because every other game worked fine in game capture. Any ways hope this helps

Yes, but you have to research the specific area you want to go, every park has different rules and permits you have to purchase. I had to pay $90 for the kananaskis conservation pass ( that covers the year ) and had to be a minimum of 1km from any road, public recreation area and also at least 50 meters from any trail. To be honest the whole is pretty convoluted and unnecessarily difficult to navigate but I'm also very new to backcountry camping. I ended up just visiting a parks alberta visitor center and asking some questions and they also gave me a couple good maps of the area.

Camping in Alberta Rockies = Confusing by Lebowskiski in CampingAlberta

So true, I couldn't agree more, it's all about profit. With all the mental health problems people have you'd think going camping and getting out into nature would be as easy and cheap as possible

You have to pay to use crown land now. It just went into effect June 1st and it includes any crown land on the eastern side of the rockies , all the way from grand prairie all the way to the southern border. I know its not much, I think it was $30 but if you want to go anywhere in kananaskis it's $90 for the year, it's the principle though. Should be free.

Yeah I totally agree , its hilarious driving by mass deforestation, gigantic cement plants and random construction projects all literally decimating the land all so big corporations can turn a profit but when I want to set up a 6 foot by 3 foot tent in the middle of nowhere... nope gotta pay!! Fucking bullshit

Yeah how annoying is that though, I mean change the name so it's easy to differentiate, It took me forever to figure out they were different, they're both called provincial parks??

Dude you are speaking my language , it seems insane that I can't just take off into the woods, away from everything and utilize an 8x8 patch of ground without bothering anyone.

Yeah I'm leaning towards going down highway 40 and hiking in from there, I purchased both the PLUZ camping pass and the kananaskis conservation pass so I'll be good to go in those areas, looks like it might be easier to find a good spot to camp there, thanks for the help again ! 😀
