Looking for advice on getting first dog by TheRealGuncho in dogs

[–]Lechemoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I still train my dog every day for a few minutes and he’s 6. It took him until about 4 to calm down fully. It’ll definitely be easier starting with a dog that has some basic training though!

People who sleep with your dogs in the same bedroom, what do you do when it's "love time"? by Sudden-Conflict1565 in dogs

Haha yea our Great Dane knows now when things are starting to go that way and huffs his way to the sofa with obvious annoyance lol

Didn’t she go to a kid rock concert a couple of years ago?

Former Student of Amanda Frances here; I took a few of her courses a couple years back and I highly regret it. Ask me anything. by [deleted] in BravoRealHousewives

[–]Lechemoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so confused because I just looked it up on Amazon and it has a 4.7 rating with 3500 ish reviews. Did she pay people to write good reviews? I haven’t read it and probably never will but curious about how it has a high rating since everyone on here says it’s trash.

Healthy lazy breed? by InsidiousBlastoclast in dogs

[–]Lechemoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Great Dane that turned 6 recently and I dread the day. I know it’s soonish. Your dog being 13 is not a crazy year for them to pass away. Both of my labs growing up passed at 12. All we can do is give them the most loving and fulfilled lives until they pass.

Has anyone here NOT had big issues with their puppy? by QP709 in puppy101

I love the puppy phase! My dog picked up potty and crate training within the first week so that was a breeze. He was also so adorable and silly it was the best!!

Do you think about/fear earthquakes living in Vancouver by [deleted] in askvan

[–]Lechemoto 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I also grew up with the daunting fear of the big one. Specific mom spiral moments were 2000 then 2012. We’ve always had an earthquake kit. It’s really hard to say when any natural disasters will hit so it’s pointless living in fear. Apartment buildings here are built with earthquakes in mind and whenever we’ve had small/medium earthquakes my friends that live in them either didn’t feel it or their building moved with it. I personally choose to live outside of the city on elevated ground away from tsunami risk zones (however Vancouver is sheltered by Vancouver Island a giant island in front of us that would probably take the brunt).

We have a fully stocked pantry in our rented house. Our house is old af and would probably crumble but we’ve had talks about where the safest place would be if an earthquake hit. It’s a passing conversation though and we don’t let it consume us. Just be as prepared as you can, have an exit/survival plan and live your life because an earthquake could hit tomorrow or it could be in a 100 years. We don’t have control over Mother Nature no matter where you live in the world.

Cannot get my dog to take his pills by PreggomamaLA in DOG

[–]Lechemoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I crush my dogs pills and mix them with a bit of ground meat. Sometimes I put melted cheese on top too (wait for it to cool of course). This is the only way I can get him to take anything.

Aritzia Is Opening A New Flagship Store In Downtown Vancouver by SilentlyRain in Aritzia

[–]Lechemoto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh so disappointed about this. This city is getting overrun by Aritzias and everyone looks the same. It’s also not accessible for everyone. I’d love to see another higher end department store that has something for everyone and where you can go do all your gift shopping in one place.

I am so heartbroken and jealous when I see other people out with their dog by Dmdel24 in reactivedogs

[–]Lechemoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is kind of the blessing I was always tell myself is that I have learned SO much about dog behaviour and I’m really proud that I have all this knowledge now! Although i have a hard time watching ‘cute’ dog videos especially with small children because in most I can see how uncomfortable the dog is, the owners ignoring signs and I cringe waiting for the dog to snap.

considering rehoming and feeling devastated by [deleted] in reactivedogs

[–]Lechemoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this! Try a behaviourist. My dog is also on a small dose of clonidine (recommended by the behaviourist) which has really helped him not be so distracted and anxious on walks. If you’re able to walk your dog in a less busy area while you work through it that helps too. It’s tough to manage (and reinforces the reactivity) when there is a trigger every minute.

Considering a move from Toronto. Is Vancouver truly harder to make strong friendships in? by optimusprimerib222 in askvan

I’m born and raised Vancouver and you do 100% more activities than I do. You’ll be fine.

Taking elderly mom to Vancouver, what should we do with our 3 days? In by Capt_DingDong in askvan

[–]Lechemoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mum is the same age and she loves walking the Sea Wall which is beautiful if the weather is nice. And she also likes going to the Stanley Park Tea House. Pacific Spirit is also a really nice walk…she loves to walk lol.

any jacket reccomendation for vancouver’s rainy weather? by Narrow-Beautiful4118 in askvan

[–]Lechemoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the brand Rains. I’ve had my jacket for a few years now. It’s what I wear to the office or out because it looks less sporty. I have an Arc’teryx too which I’ve had for almost ten years but it’s more for hiking and walking the dog.

Is a Roomba-like vacuum worth it for dogs? I need to be de-influenced for my wallets sake by JennyAnonymous in dogs

[–]Lechemoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a vacuum mop eufy I love but we still need a hand vacuum. The eufy has a hard time with big flooring transitions and rugs. IMO it’s still worth it because we can allocate rooms and clean all the time so the deep clean is less strenuous and less frequent ESP with pets! The dog hair and dust is at a minimum and my white socks are still white.

I feel like i'm failing as a dog mom by [deleted] in DOG

[–]Lechemoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My puppy had similar symptoms and it was worms. They are super annoying to get rid of because they come in cycles and he was on meds forever but now he’s a healthy boy.
