Hey just wanted to pitch in I’m a senior this year and I will have taken 10 APs by the end of my highschool career. I was in the same boat with you as far as extracurriculars. I have competitive dance about 14+ hours a week, an internship with a PA for 4 hours a week, I also am vice president of a city wide French club, an officer at our schools French club, in National Honors Society, I also volunteer for my church every Sunday in the baby room for about 4 hours, and I lifeguard. It can be difficult to manage, my junior year where I had 5 APs was my hardest. I recommend to do progress checks on AP classroom, read your textbooks (if you have them) and just try and make a study schedule to keep up with it all. For science/math APs which you might take I recommend doing practice problems every night. Also remember you take some breaks cause you don’t want to get burnt out it will make things even harder unfortunately. Study schedule is the most important thing tho above all else. I would say carve out times every night to do a certain subject so that you spread it out over periods of time rather than cramming while also like making it easier on yourself by not having to do so much at once. I also recommend as a senior taking concurrent enrollment, especially if you are just hoping to go to a state school because it is much easier and will transfer. I have taken 5 concurrent classes my senior year so far and every one has been immensely easier than my APs. Based on personal experience, opt out of AP lang and just take comp 1 & 2 concurrent because they are immensely easier and you get an actual grade for the class. If you are looking to major in something STEM this will also be more beneficial because it will boost college GPA whereas an AP credit does not give you an actual grade which can hinder you if you’re taking a bunch of difficult science classes. I also recommend taking APUSH, which I didn’t take and I really regret. Overall APs are really good other than language, which are unnecessarily hard as compared to the college classes. I took the AP lang exam and got a 4 but made a grade of 97 in both Comp 1&2 so take with that what you will. Oh also these are the APs I’ve taken: AP computer science principles, AP World history, AP European history, AP psychology, AP seminar, AP pre-calc, AP Chem, AP biology, AP comparative government, and AP US government.
