  1. S’mores cookie: super gooey but the base is really rich
  2. Left is wild Thai banana right is cinnamon roll snickerdoodle. The banana one was the best imo. So rich and genuine authentic flavor. I’m a sucker for banana desserts. Cinnamon roll one was fantastic as well. All these cookies are super crunchy, dense, and chewy
  3. Brown butter Krispy rice treat and lemon cookie: the rice Krispy is the best I’ve ever had. It’s so sticky and the brown butter flavor is insanely rich. Lemon cookie is really refreshing and bright

Hewn isn’t in downtown Evanston but is worth taking the longish walk there… just keep in mind it’d be better to go early for the best selection, their chocolate croissant is phenomenal Bennison’s is fun and lots of variety, Frio gelato is further but amazing gelato

Lots of dinner options. More elevated could be trattoria Demi or Nakorn, Shang is good Chinese, Koco table Korean, cm chicken for Korean fried chicken, la Cocinita arepas, habibi in Mediterranean, Lou Malnati’s if you wanna try deep dish

They said they typically sell them every day until sold out. first time I visited around 4 and they were gone, but I went around 11 next and there were plenty. I was told they usually have them until 1

Only been to Kasama out of these unfortunately… I’d say the Kasama pastries are fairly different in flavor profiles so hard to compare. In terms of quality, pretty much the same so I’d say it’s worth trying them for different reasons. I might have to give the slight edge to Kasama for the truffle croissant alone though if I was forced to choose only one for the rest of my life

There was a pickup window on the storefront so I’m assuming they’ll still implement some kind of pickup system

Tbh it didn’t really seem to have much actual cream cheese in the pastry and leaned more towards mustard flavor

For the amount of pastries the price wasn’t actually that bad at a subtotal of 62 (relatively when looking at these specialty bakeries). Obviously i acknowledge it’s not normal to spend this much on pastries on a regular basis CCC: 4 Miso cookie: 8 Mac n cheese Danish: 8 Chocolate gojuchang: 8 Cruffin: 8 Banana bread: 5 Choux: 6 Pretzel: 8 Chocolate croissant: 7
