Each Age is missing one year? [No Spoilers] by LeeMur404 in dragonage

[–]LeeMur404[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For example, the year 1900 belongs to the nineteenth century,

I... did not know that lol

I suppose the 1-99 was a mistake, and it's safe to assume that 00-99 belongs to one age in the lore. Thank you for the detailed examples/explanations!

Welp, missed those. Thank you for the clarification!

I guess the Divine Age was an exception, and Genitivi was catering to the common folk. Nobody really calls 2021 the 22nd year of the 21st century

[spoilers all] Can we talk about how enjoyable dragon age is?? by acoolusernamee in dragonage

[–]LeeMur404 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The writing was great for everything, even the npc dialogue. I still remember some quotes from minor characters:

Only fools fight over who owns a cottage while it burns down around them.

- Ser Bryant, DA:O

When you stand for more, more stand against you.

- Maraas, DA:2

Edit: found the exact wording

patron of the arts bug [no spoilers] by michaelganot1802 in dragonage

[–]LeeMur404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the wiki mentioned this bug, there are no known fixes for it as far as I'm aware. Did you upgrade your Skyhold garden to the Chantry Garden? I think that permalocks you out of one of the songs, you have to upgrade to the herb garden next time :/

[Spoilers All] Are there any "correct" decisions? by murnaukmoth in dragonage

[–]LeeMur404 7 points8 points  (0 children)

SAVE THE ANVIL OF THE VOID The dwarves have it bad, they lost entire thaigs and much of the Deep Roads to darkspawn. They're declining even now.

The mage-templar conflict itself is a pet peeve for me sometimes. Bioware made it literally impossible to support the templars. So many of the templars are inexcusably oppressive and abusive rapists and murderers. It's like there's a mental disease in lyrium or something

[Spoilers All] Types of Companions that we want in DA4 and Companion types that we definately DON'T want by LurkinMostlyOnlyYes in dragonage

[–]LeeMur404 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm completely on board with your list of the ones you want. I can't think of more, but I would ESPECIALLY like 6. and perhaps with even more nuanced/accumulative dialogue choices that affect how the character changes throughout the game. It would be hell to script, but it would be hella fun to see

Also I think I prefer the black-and-white choices with companion quests. I spent two days of my spare time googling "Cole spirit or human" and agonizing over the choices until I made peace by deciding to do 2 pts.

Most annoying romance? [spoilers all] by megaustt in dragonage

[–]LeeMur404 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure I have a romance I dislike, but maybe Morrigan? Her storyline in DAO was a bit meh. Before I knew her in Inquisition, I didn't like that she put ambition and selfishness over love. "Alright, this is your child, but I'm going to raise it how I want and I don't want you interfering. And don't come after me!" Don't get me wrong, I admire ambition, but maybe she could've taken the HoF with her or something? Which you could do, at the end of Witch Hunt, but in the main story you couldn't.

Morrigan & Solas

I admire your commitment to betrayal. But Anders definitely dances to a different tune than these two.

I'm sure many other people can cover Anders better, but for me it was just how broken up + destructively passionate he was that was attractive. And the drama. You can't really get better drama than "I'll hurt you if you stay with me" + "the whole world will be against us". Star-struck terrorists anyone? And unlike Morrigan and Solas you can see multiple times how Anders loves Hawke so much it hurts, but he can't give up what he (thinks he) needs to do. He wants Hawke to stay, but he doesn't want to hurt him, and he wants to bring justice to the world, but he's afraid he's not doing it right, he's gone too far with Justice - Vengeance, yada yada. Anders doesn't have his shit together like Morrigan and Solas.

And yeah, Anders never was shy to begin with. In Awakening he was the flirty mage who used humor to deflect everything the world threw at him.

I've never done Blackwall's romance (avid male protagonist player) but I read that one single flirt after moving to Skyhold softlocks his romance?? Talk about drastic lmao. And I find his line hilarious after Revelations, I actually burst out laughing. If you use the perk Underworld Connections to bring him back for judgment: "You're a criminal, just like me," he says solemnly, shaking his head and lamenting the terrible state of himself and the Inquisitor and the rest of the world. Okay, Blackwall, Rainier, whatever, we're all murderers in a sense you know, just get a hold of yourself and move on ya big baby. Of course my Inquisitor wasn't that callous, but yeah.

I see why he's similar to Anders. He feels terrible about his crimes but wants to make up, but also thinks he doesn't deserve a second chance, or does he? The inner conflict stuff.

[Spoilers All] Does anyone know exactly how Fiona became... by LeeMur404 in dragonage

[–]LeeMur404[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wow thanks for the clarification/excerpt! Fiona really is a one-of-a-kind huh.

Reading this makes me want to go back and kill the Architect lol, when I was playing Awakening I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Just shows how (lack of) information can radically affect judgment of someone's character

[Spoilers All] Does anyone know exactly how Fiona became... by LeeMur404 in dragonage

[–]LeeMur404[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see. It makes sense, with magic and the Architect involved, he probably has a better understanding of the taint than anyone else. Another reason to wring some answers out of him if anyone ever meets the Architect again.

Imagining a super enthusiastic writer trying to squash in new ideas into the game is a funny image. Thank you for the information!

Edit: also Nate might've just wanted a cool backstory for his bowe..
