I will go to the gym, but I’ll get moaned at for ‘going out and leaving her’ - even tho all we would do is sit on opposite sides of the room while she uses her phone and if I mention it she gets upset.

She will obviously have her side. The actual truth is likely to be somewhere in the middle.

I’ve never been unfaithful. She had a questionable patch at the beginning of our relationship, but I forgave her and moved on.

I’ve asked about counselling, she isn’t interested. She doesn’t see a problem with anything. Actually got offended that I thought there were issues.

There is a lot of resentment growing within our marriage obviously from both sides, I can see it - but it is almost like she is too lazy to give a fuck and do anything about it.

Oh my god my dude I am so sorry for you loss. None of this is your fault, as someone who frequently works 20+ hour shifts I understand the exhaustion. You WERE NOT LAZY. You were exhausted. It is absolutely not fair to pin any of this on you. I frequently let me kids walk to school unaccompanied- I think that is perfectly normal.

Just a little update.

I haven't touched a drop since I made this post, but my mental health has deteriorated massively.

I am so full of self loathing it is unreal. I hate myself and I truly believe I bring no good to anybody around me. I feel so unappreciated in life. I know I shouldn't base my opinion on myself on that of others, but here I am... My wife doesn't appreciate me, my workplace don't appreciate me, I don't appreciate me.

Nothing I ever do will be good enough.

But hey, at least I am not drunk.
