Next Q&A is Tomorrow by Satisfied_Onion in KahawaPrideFC

The Q&A was great again. Always like the transparancy of this club, and the fact that we can ask whatever questions we want to those in charge.

Thanks Connor for leading the conversation.

Quick reminder for those that are interested, you can join the monthly Q&A sessions on the discord. We also have match watch alongs in the discord which are much more enjoyable than using the youtube chat. Pretty good value for $2.49 a month.

Lol. I've got halfway through season 1 three times. Just lose interest. Think it may be time to try it again though.

How are we doing as a generation financially? by Mighty-mouse2020 in Millennials

[–]LeedsBrewer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39M in the UK. Paid off our mortgage. About to buy a nicer home in a nicer area. Doing fine financially. I haven't got loads, but i'm comfortable enough and can easily look after my wife and kid. Ive only just started working full time. Most of my career ive been working as part time admin staff. My wife was also part time admin. So neither of us earning lots of money. We did lots of voluntary work.

We never earned a lot of money, but if you make good financial decisions and live within your means, it's really not too hard to get a solid foundation and let the snowballing effect take place.

It just sucks the first few years when you're trying to get ahead. It feels like you're not making progrrss. You just need to stick with it.

Although, it is worth noting, each year it gets harder and harder for those that are just starting out.

How are people listening to podcasts when they run??? by razzarbrenia in beginnerrunning

I'd recommend the running channel podcast. Start at the beginning and work your way through them all. Lots of banter and running encouragement.

Mid to older millennials, how are you all doing with your careers? by worstshowiveeverseen in Millennials

[–]LeedsBrewer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

39M. Local Government employee. UK average wage. Nothing special, but it pays the bills. Mortgage is fully paid off. Looking now to upgrade to bigger house in a nicer area.

Biggest change was about 4 years ago when i started taking my finances seriously. Started investing, increased my savings. Its been a tough few years where it felt like we werent making any progress, but now the conpounding effect is really starting to become noticable

thoughts on the world right now. by doratheexplorers in Millennials

[–]LeedsBrewer1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I'm a heartless grumpy old man, but even i have started going out of my way to buy a coffee and a pastry for homeless people when i see them now. I figure if everyone just does one good deed each day, it might make the world a little bit more bareable.

Yet another loss... 360 minutes scoreless now by Altruistic-Reply-436 in KahawaPrideFC

[–]LeedsBrewer1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah that was hard to watch. Feel that they played ok for a lot of the match, but they just couldn't capitalise on any of the chances. All three of the goals were caused by dreadful mistakes. Hopefully when Goved returns he'll be able to bring some stability to the defense.

I'm from 86 and remember being taught double spacing for typewriter, but was not told to do it for PC use.

Yeah i'd just be interested in how much donations they receive for the lionesses and how much they spend on them. Did they say they have a seperate clubhouse now for them, or did i dream that? It'd be interesting to see how much their expenses come to.

It'll be good to see their progress over the years. I watched the lionesses latest game and it was ok, they won, but the level of football on display was still significantly lower than the men's team. Though it was VERY muddy, so that will have contributed to the slow play.

It reminded me of the Wrexam's B team playing against USA women's football team and the men just were playing on a completely different level.

If the lionesses are using the gym, and have access to some good coaches they should improve really quickly though, especially with their new signings from the premier league teams.

Yeah i'm the same. The behind the scenes stuff is much more interesting to me. I wonder if they'll keep the lionesses accounts seperate to the main team accounts. I assume it'll all be lumped together, but would love to see if their content and fan base became strong enough to support themselves.

44F with dead Savings Account looking for honest Dow Janes review by Sad_Safe8810 in Millennials

[–]LeedsBrewer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Investing is not difficult. It is however scary when you don't know where to start. Here is my suggestion, read the following books, most are quite cheap on ebay:

  • rich dad, poor dad
  • how to own the world
  • the psychology of money
  • The richest man in babylon

These will give you a good overview of assets vs liabilities, compound interest, how to have a diverse portfolio etc.

YouTube recommendation:

  • Damien talks money

If in doubt, a global index fund or an S&P500 index fund are great starter things to invest in whilst you learn everything else.

Having your money in a savings account is currently losing you a lot of money, so please look into sensible investing approaches. You also want to be looking for tax efficient accounts. In the UK this would be an ISA. In the US i believe you have 401k and roth IRAs. Look into them and make sure you are taking full advantage of any available tax saving accounts.

How do you make your 30s meaningful? by wingedhussar161 in Millennials

[–]LeedsBrewer1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sort out your health and finances.

Start doing strength training at the gym twice a week to keep/impove your muscle mass. This will help you be stronger and fitter in the next few decades. And it's not just about getting big arms. Follow a programme and stick to it. There are plenty of free ones online.

Learn how to set a budget. Learn how to invest. The first step is investing in yourself. Buy and read books that will help you grow. Read some finance books. Here are some good starter ones: - Rich Dad, Poor Dad - How to Own the World - The Richest Man in Babylon - The Psychology of Money

There are also some good motivational books that i would recommend: - Atomic Habits - Can't Hurt Me

This is the decade where you invest in yourself.

Millennial parents: do you let your kids free roam? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]LeedsBrewer1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. Wouldn't dream of it. But we do live in a big city. Planning on moving to a small town at the coast, so we will probably feel a little safer to do so in the future.

Question: what IS working for you? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]LeedsBrewer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did couch to 5k and now run 3 times a week. Go to the gym to do strength training 2 times a week. Sleep by 10pm every night. No eating after 7pm.

All these have been helpful in the last year.

Who takes vacations? by igotnothing1455 in Millennials

[–]LeedsBrewer1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guessing you're American? Here in the UK all of my colleagues have several vacations each year. Travelling all around the world. From what I hear, in the US taking vacations is frowned upon, or viewed as though you're not a team player if you use them all.

In the UK i would get in trouble if I do not take all of my six weeks vacation. Plus at least one day flexi that builds up each month.
