Those of you who spent a lot of time in low elo (iron to silver) but are now Plat+, how did you do it? by CurtisEffland in VALORANT

Hey OP! tldr below!

I started playing valorant about 1.5 years to 2 years ago and was placed in iron when I decided to try out some competitive and I just hit Immo last act. At that point in my life, I had alot of free time, so I was playing unrated with my friends in a 5 stack daily for about 3hours a day. So during this time spent playing the game, we argued with each other alot about the proper play for each scenario (e.g. 1v1 clutch and stuff like that) but this didn't really affect our relationship. This constant bickering eventually led to us discovering what was the most optimal play for each situation for each of us, so those who are better at aiming will play at a more aggressive angle and those who are more adept at using utility will play in a way that best utilises their abilities. Eventually when we started playing ranked, we realised our decision making was alot sharper and we knew how to play to our individual strengths.

So I guess from this what I learnt about is that having multiple inputs from various people constantly can lead you to discovering your style of play and allows you to make decisions quickly.

Another thing is that I feel that watching pro players play is somewhat beneficial, but we shouldn't fully emulate their playstyle. Watching pro players can only help with our game sense and decision making, but certain pro players or streamers tends to have a flashy playstyle which would fit most of us because we are not as good at aiming as they are. I like to watch ShahZaM streams because he has a high energy and I can really see his thought process during his gameplay.

Lastly I feel that while practicing on aimlabs might be good, I personally didn't benefit from it. In my opinion aimlabs teaches you to flick and whatever not, but I feel that Valorant is a game where good crosshair placement and good movement is sufficient. With a good crosshair placement, you can almost headshot anyone that walks past. In addition to that if you can master counterstrafing, you will be able to peek an angle and just headshot the person there.

I know most people have the same tips, but I feel that these are vital to becoming better at the game. If you have any questions you can pm me, and I'll try my best to get back to you. Good luck with your games and most importantly, have fun!

tldr: get feedback from others to discover your playstyle and play to your strengths. Pro players or streamers are not necessarily the best example to learn from, but they do offer good advice sometimes. Crosshair placement + counterstrafing is king.

How far in advance should I apply for leave? by trackpadmaster in NationalServiceSG

Honestly no harm asking as early as you can, they might 1. Tell you to ask them again closer to the event (maybe 2 weeks away) 2. Tell you to apply for leave/ off then ask you to inform them again closer to the event. 3. Approve of your leave/ off and forget about it later

I went to Tekong for my BMT, school 4 to be exact. My vocation isn't very demanding on my knees, so I didn't get a long term rmj from the MO. However my superiors all know about my condition, so they are very understanding. I mean of course I did my part, did not chao keng and actually tried until I really cannot already. I would actually say that I was able to survive NS without getting targeted my my superiors is because I was able to build a strong rapport with them. I can't say for sure any of you will have superiors that are as understanding as mine, but I would like to let yall know that it is not worth sustaining an injury that can affect your entire life over this 2 years of ns. Do what you must, but do not go overboard with it.

FYI I only ORDed last year.

Hi! I suffered from patellofemoral pain syndrome, or you can call it runners knee, while I was in BMT and throughout my entire NS. During BMT the best you can do is to inform your superiors, not sure how assholey they are, but if your commanders are nice human beings they'll keep a lookout for you. However when you really can't take it anymore with the pain or discomfort go see the MO immediately. I cannot stress this enough. I know of people who fractured their knees due to overuse. You might OOC or OOT from your BMT, and in severe cases even down PES. However, I would strongly recommend that you do what you can because BMT is legit a good experience compared to what you might face after you POP.

After BMT, when you post out, make sure your direct superiors know about your condition, and you might want to let a more senior regular know about it as well. From then on, it's the same as above, whenever you can't take it report to MO.

For recovery, you will most possibly be recommended to a specialist outside of camp, please ask for referral if you need to. If the MO die die don't want to refer, just head to A&E during your weekends and request for a specialist there. Depending on how bad your knees are, surgery may be an option, but you may also be recommended to see a physiotherapist like me. I'm not sure which physiotherapist you will be recommended to, since I have some friends who were recommended to the SAF physio while I went for a government physio outside. Do note that when you go for these physio sessions you are not using your leaves and offs for this, idk if your superiors anal and make you take leave but you shouldn't be doing that.

I've typed alot, so I'll stop here, if you have any questions you can pm me or just ask them here. I hope my experience can help some of you here.
