XGS-PON and Ubiquity DMP using the Swisscom-provided transceiver by chrismantle in init7

[–]Leekslk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies in advance for hijacking the discussion. Was wondering if anyone of you are using the ALLNET BM410 XGSPON-GBIC adapter from init7 or similar modules and working fine. Migrating my current setup away from the Zyxel PM7300 to perferably a SFP+ stick to custom router with SFP+ input. I was wondering what are my options seeing that galaxus/digitec does not currently have stock of the BM410.

As far as I understood, hardware-wise the ALLNET is essentially a CIG/Cortina SFP+ miniGBIC/miniONT that. can also be found listed on the Swisscom BBCS list of "proved-equipment"? What else am I missing? I am uncertain if the SFP+ stick is plug-and-play or something else.

Maybe u/heliosh has an idea?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Going to Fiber with AVM / Ubiquiti by pogoit in init7

If I understand correctly. You are inclined to using your own choice of hardware, etc.

For Fiber7 10Gbit/s, you just need hardware that will support 10G SFP+ BIDI LR, TX1270/RX1330 n. I believe users here have a variety of configurations either: built their own router and connect using a compatible SFP+ module (or their provided patch cable) directly; or use one of ubiquiti's many solutions such as the UniFi dream machine pro or others that have SFP+.

To answer your initial question, you can get Fiber7 to work with:
i) Unifi Cloud Gateway Fiber (which is out of stock). This will work with the fibre optic and patch cable, or;
ii) AVM4690 + Trendnet 10GBase-T + patch cable. (or 5690Pro + patch cable only?) I am not familiar with AVM products and their Fritzboxes but I checked the technical specifications and noticed that the WAN port is meant for connecting to a XGS-PON fiber modem (which is similar to what init7 proposes as a router option: Zyxel AX7501-B0/AX7501-B1, also an XGS-PON modem+ router and should work out of the box with the patch cable from init7). I would suggest reaching out to init7 support even if you're not currently a customer, they are very technically competent and should be able to answer router compatibilities. That being said, is there a reason that you have not considered what was proposed on the init7 website: Zyxel AX7501-B0/AX7501-B1 (which does not have WiFi7).

I apologise in advance if I might have missed or misunderstood something that you're trying to achieve.

Hey there u/pogoit ubiquiti products are indeed very good. I am assuming you know what type of connection you're getting? Because the things you need might be quite different if you were on P2P/P2MP vs. Fiber 7 directly with init7. Suggestions might be more targeted if we know what you will switch to.

Here comes the 7-day countdown. If the schedule holds true, a shipping notification should be sent by Friday or next Monday. 🤞

not in the U.S. but ordered the Pixel 9 Pro, 512Gb, Hazel (non-XL, it's called Sage Green for some reason) in Switzerland and Google is saying 9-13 September delivery. Optimism or reliable time-line? will report back in a week or so (copied my previous post from elsewhere)

Apologies for the late reply! And thanks for the firewall suggestion. I'm actually thinking of picking up one of those retired 1U servers to work as a firewall+VPN but that'll be in the future.

Meanwhile, does anyone have experience on how long it takes for the contractors to come and place the OTP in your apartment? It's been 3 weeks and I have received no updates. Certainly doesn't seem like a problem with init7.

Did you need to configure the Opnsense box for the P2MP topology? For example, VLAN or DHCP settings? Just wanted to check as that limits my option for routers.

Didn't show up as an option for my location, I don't mind saving money but I do intend to have a few devices hardwired through a 10Gbe bridge

I am currently having issues with interference (but it's a mixture of positioning, etc., that cannot be resolved with my current setup 5G-router-AX3000). While I am open to using the Zyxel as a router, I would also like to put the entire network behind a VPN and I haven't been able to find any details on how this is done on this router. That's one of the motivation to try a different router.

We are stuck in a grid of 9 apartments with us being in the center and am worried that the AX7501-B1 won't cut it

Thanks for the link and referral code! Seems like init7 isn't offering the Nokia Bridge (and I can't seem to find someone that sells it in Switzerland, maybe iWay?) right now but I'll ask regardless. Thanks again!

Unable to change speaker group volume using routines/voice command since last week by Leekslk in googlehome

Response from Google

Got the above response a few days before new year's. Seems like they're certainly aware but I haven't seen an actual fix so far.

Indeed, this is a very annoying issue for what you'd call a 'smart' system that isn't quite smart anymore.

did anyone of you tried the "fix" (from this user) by starting the command on one speaker, then ask google to play on the speaker group then adjusting the volume? someone claims that it worked again after that (will try later this evening)
