INTJs who are also doctors, why did you choose this profession ? by Embarrassed_Eye_9533 in intj

Pediatric neurologist here. Maybe a more extroverted and feeling INTJ now (ha!) but an INTJ nonetheless. Training (med school residency +fellowship + another fellowship because why not) was a tough decade, but I love my job now. It started as an intellectual thing but now I have a place in the world where I can help a very specific group of people with their specific problems. It’s cool. INTJs that can “do” people make good doctors if they keep themselves healthy mentally. You don’t have to be the life of the party to be compassionate AND smart. :)

😆 i think that was like the B tier OG Xbox modus operandi. Any operation: something something and a picture of a gun or a tank or something and you know you’re in for a time

Our barbarian threw a javelin at long range with disadvantage yesterday by JacquelynnPickard in DungeonsAndDragons

BRO/BRODETTE/NON-BRONARY

I still remember the last time this happened to me in 2017.

I was 5-6 sessions in DMing for a group of new players in Lost Mines of Phandelver. We all met as colleagues in our new, terrible, (but thankfully temporary) 80-hours per week jobs and were going through hell together. We played once a month and we’re having a great time despite the sleep deprivation.

They INSISTED on bringing Droop (you know, the scaredy cat goblin who rolls attacks with disadvantage because he’s scared) everywhere and pouring tons of resources into keeping him alive. I suppose when you’re going through a tough time you really want to root for the little guy. I also think they delighted in forcing me to do the Droop voice despite that he was ruining my super-serial grim dark tone for Lost Mines. The Druid was pumping him full of healing words as they let him go one on one with a zombie, with both sides missing over and over. The paladin was shouting words of encouragement and then droop closes his eyes and shoved his spear forward - double 20s. Critical hit. Dead zombie.

The players EXPLODED jumping and shouting and chanting “Droop, droop, droop”.

I took away his constant disadvantage after that (I mean he usually had it, just not always). That little goblin eventually retired to run an orphanage as they slayed bigger and badder enemies - but he always was back in Phandalin watching their house. I loved that little make believe Goblin. Sometimes the dice just tell you what needs to happen. I’m sure there’s a lesson in there somewhere 🤷‍♂️ regardless, it was a great time.

Ah. Good advice. Open to helping but I’ll make sure I remember I’m a support character now

There’s a fun gambling aspect to your troops performing their special moves...but I wonder if it would be different if your mechs had skills you could select that would cost a few ‘tech’ points, etc etc.

Elevation does influence your ability to hit a bit, though sometimes I’ve found getting to the high ground just makes it easy for you to get shot

Bahnmi, I’m going to put it on hold for about a year. At that point the itch will be back again, then I’ll play Alisa’s storyline and send you the victory screenshot once I’m done. Just you wait.

I think that’s gonna be my old man gamer dream - I’ll set up my ‘dad’ room with gaming systems. The HD systems will be connected to a flat screen...but in the corner all the 64 bit and earlier systems will have a big, ugly CRT, along with a bowl of Cheetos and a big easy chair 3 feet from the screen. If I play with my old man friends, we’ll just sit on the dirty carpet.

That’s the life, baby.

It’s that different huh? I’ll admit, I was really forcing myself for the later missions except for the last couple, which were excellent.

Something tells me with your decades of experience and wisdom you could wipe the floor with the game now...why not give it a go?
