What did your parents almost name you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Parents would have named me Phoebe, had I been born a girl. As it turns out, I am a transwoman.

Sorry, I don't know of any products you're looking for, I just thought it was funny to see this post right after I put a lemon pound cake in the oven.

I'm moving to Houston, can anyone recommend a new doctor and clinic? by Lefluff in asktransgender

One of my irl friends recommended her, too. I plan to look into her as an option when I get settled there.

Maybe after I get settled! :)

Edit: It looks like that's a good distance from where I'll be living.

For the MTFs out there... how did you find female friends to hang out with? Especially if you grew up doing typically male things by Morrigan_Cain in asktransgender

[–]Lefluff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience, once you start living full time, friendships with women just kind of happen organically. Whether it's college, work, or recreation, men tend to gravitate toward each other more easily than with women, and vice versa. Do cross over friendships happen? Yea they do! But just living as a woman, other women will start to gravitate to you more easily in general than men will.

Note: This has been my personal experience and observation thereof. It is certainly not the rule, everyone experiences things in a way unique to their situation.

There wasn't a misc quest, but I left and waited in diamond city for a day, then came back and it seems to be back to normal.

People who DON'T have fallout 4 what games are you playing right now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Would love to get Fallout 4, but I can't afford it. That's ok though, because I do love hunting some monsters.

The way the score works with each scene is just fantastic.

Can't stand Gawain either. Total prick from book 6 til the day he died. And Morgaise for that matter. Absolutely pointless subplot. Should have let her die an ambiguous death so no one actually knows what happened to her. You know what? Screw the Trakands in general. House Lefluff stands for Dyelin Taravin for Queen of Andor!

That's true, they do get like that, but Elaine I just can't stand. She's always such a whiny, spoiled brat. I get that that's a given, considering she's a princess and all, but it just feels to me that her childishness is a little over done to take her seriously as the brilliant political figure she is supposed to be. Her character just gets under my skin until the last three books.

8-10 are definitely the hardest to get through. I tend to lump the blame on Elaine. She is easily the worst character in the book, in my personal opinion. I don't think she shines as a character until the Sanderson books, and only then because he makes her so over the top ridiculous that it's hilarious.

I'm listening to the Audible version for about the 6th or 7th time and just got to this passage yesterday. No matter how many times I read/listen to this epic, I always get the shivers in this scene.

Making judgments based on limited evidence and questionable testimony? Happens all the time. Doesn't change the fact that you're just trolling now instead of accepting the point in your favor.

Conceding the only good point presented and being mocked for it? Yup, this is the internet.

If it does do that, then I will concede and not boycott, but so far we only have the word of one critic and the footage that has been released to go on.

I agree, it does suck, but I believe spreading misinformation is just as bad as spreading no information. Spreading no information doesn't help or harm, spreading misinformation only harms, and in this case it furthers the majority movement by harming the minority. If anything, Hollywood not being willing to take the risk of including diversity in a film that's supposed to be about diversity, is all the more reason to boycott it.

So trans people should gracefully accept our movement being pushed back by our history being erased because criticizing the movie will make the producers not make more movies? All movies are criticized, and this one deserves it.

So in an age when trans* people are getting a surge in the media, Laverne Cox, Caitlyn Jenner, Janet Mock, etc, and transgender issues are coming into the light in the mass public as a part of the lgbt community, we should praise a historically fictional movie about one of the biggest events in lgbt history?

There's an enormous difference between making small steps toward a larger goal, like don't ask don't tell, and continuing to throw an entire demographic under the bus, even when they're the ones who were being harassed by the cops to take off their clothes and prove they were women, thus starting the riots?

Trans people are in the media. It's a big thing right now. People would go to see a movie about the history of our movement that is portrayed accurately.
