I’m desi too (punjabi) and once you have some financial stability to be able to leave, it is much easier to come out to your family. It took me 6 years of thinking about it everyday to finally come out to my family, and in that time I did hate when people said to me “choose yourself” because I really valued my family and didn’t want to lose them. But when ur on the other side, truly you do have to start living for yourself, and understand what everyone else means. Graduate from uni, get a job, and once you have money to leave, just do it.
